Do you have idrive or Pro Radio ?
Do you have idrive or Pro Radio ?
I have been told you can only get a combox with idrive. If you have idrive you might consider a NBT upgrade. Some of the newer pro radio's have bluetooth , usb and sat radio built in but need antenna's Mikes and cables plus coding. On the older ones everything is on seperate modules. If you don't want to invest time into this you might ask Bimmertech what they can do for you. |

Thanks, if I buy it new, will it also be sold naked/bulk, or should there be any kind of cable/bolts included?
I will buy the OEM retrofit harness/kit, maybe thats enough? |

I guess I'm in the same boat as many folks here. I just purchased a 2011 328iX with navigation, voice control, and Harman Kardon upgrade, but no bluetooth.

Would a dealer be able to recode to enable bluetooth or would I need to find someone else? |

Nothing coming up yet...
So I finally got my coding cable and laptop configured correctly. I was successful in coding and adding options for my backup camera mod, so I think I am set up correctly.
I added $644 to VO in both CAS and NFRM and reset CIC and MEDIA. I even did the whole car SG_RESET, but I still do not have PHONE showing up on my menu screen. I have 2011 E92 with Nav, USB, and voice control. What am I missing here? |

The phone bit wasn't already there? Even though mine's not activated, there's still a phone section.

Hi everyone. Great thread here, I've been reading through it for the past couple of days before posting. I am in the process of purchasing a 2008 E90. It has everything I wanted except premium. No big deal, the two important things for me are the bluetooth phone and the auto-dimming mirror. The mirror looks like an easy retrofit (100 on ebay), leaving just the bluetooth.
I have 6fl, so from what I gather, I already have the MULF. What I am a little confused about is the wiring. I have an option called SA639 which says it's prewired for phones. Does this mean I already have a mic cable? I haven't seen much mention of this before. Below is my vin, if someone would be willing to give me advice on exactly what needs to be done, I would really appreciate it. Hold the phones, tell me more about this. I looked into this once and recall it being not nearly so simple, I'd LOVE to be corrected on this. Got links?
EDIT: Also, yeah, by the looks of things, you have a pretty much ideal setup for retrofit. 6FL with that production date means you definitely have a MULF in the trunk, the prewire option is consistent with the production date (I think they took it out as of sometime around 09 for the LCI models), so yes, you should have a mic and BT antenna cable already in place. So that leaves the mic, antenna, and coding. You can cheap out on the antenna, but it would require getting creative with RF plugs and adapters - no problem if you know what you're doing, but much easier to just buy the factory part if not. ToDo: -Buy factory antenna. ($50ish?) -Buy factory mic. ($70ish?) -Install antenna next to the MOST diagnostic header in the pedal trim -Install mic in the FZD module (drop the headliner with the screws under the sun visor clips to get at the metal retention clips for the FZD). -Code (add $644 to the VO in the CAS module, and SG_RESET all modules simultaneously). More detailed guides for each of those steps exist in this thread and elsewhere, but that outline should give you enough to make searching for them easy.

Here is a link to an autodim diy: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653095 There's also a diy for the autodimming side mirrors, but it honestly doesn't seem worth the trouble (I hear a lot of people dislike them at twilight and I'm going to have a mild tint on the car anyway). |

As for cables, you're right. I believe you shouldn't have to go in the trunk at all. And you only need to install those two boxes up front, so you don't need to go ripping out every panel in the car.

I now have the blue tooth section on my iDrive menu, and can queue up to pair, however I've been unable to get my phone to pair (or even see) the car. I'll wait an hour so and try again, and see if that'll do it. Hopefully, it will connect and I'll confirm all I need to do is repin the mic, and add an antenna into the trunk. """" Update: So I was having trouble pairing my phone, but it turned out it was because of the weak BT signal with no antenna. putting the phone in the back seat immediately found the car, and I performed the pin access and voila, I was online. Car started downloading my contacts, so I tried a call out. Person couldn't hear me but I could hear them. had to turn the volume up a bit, but it sounded great. Radio automuted perfectly. So I'll be grabbing an antenna and repinning the mic, and should be all set. Can't believe I waited so long for this. doh. Last edited by AWD Addict; 12-21-2015 at 11:24 AM.. |

This website says its a fit with my model.
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...FQotHwodgXwIdw I'm going to quickly make sure I don't have one already in there, that's just unplugged. I'm hoping to have full BT calling capability for Christmas. |
