265 on e92 front?

Yesterday I was at Crevier to get some parts and I saw this AW e92 335i on their showcase lot with a bunch of dinan stickers. When i came closer, i noticed the fronts were 265 tires. Has anybody here actually placed 265's on their fronts? I thought 245 was the widest people usually go and even so, some people have rubbing.

2007 e90 335i  [8.00]
I was running 265s square on 8.5 et40 and it fit perfect, but I have an e90.
I think it's about the same as the e92 though.

You can do it, the problem is doing it with absolutely no rubbing. If you read the thread posted above he actually did have some rubbing problems at first, but than rubbed through his fender liner and there was no problem. To run this wide of a tire up front the wheel sizing must be perfect and you must be ok with some slight rubbing. And while it is possible to do this setup with no rubbing, whenever I do this type of setup for a customer I warn them that there is always the possibility of rubbing.

on an 18" or 19" rim?

if you do a 265/30/19 up front, your probably going to rub.

265/35/19 = forget about it.

Well, just for the record, I was on 265/40R17 on 8.5" et40 with absolutely no rubbing and I drive 100 miles a day.
I'll guarantee that if anyone that was running a 265/35 18 or 265/30 19 on an 8.5" wheel with et40 up front then they won't rub since the overall diameters are close to the same. Actually, the overall diameter of the wheel/tire decreases just a tad the bigger rim you go.

Example:
265/40R17 = 25.35 OD
265/35R18 = 25.30 OD
265/30R19 = 25.26 OD

BTW, that guy was running a 265 with 9" with et23! et23!!! I"m sure he had more that just rubbing a tad.

I just picked up a bigger size wheel (going to 18s) and I'm going to run a 255/35 18 on the front of an et32 and a 275/35 18 on the rear with et35. I'm a little concerned about the front because I'm sure I'll have a little rubbing but the wider tire on the track is worth it.

i forgot to look at sidewall ratio but they were 18s. Maybe someone has seen this car... its like sitting right in front of the Crevier dealership in Santa Ana.

nope, rubbing was really minor. you can barely see it in the inside of the fender. but as stated before, I have quite a bit of negative camber.

Yah, I think that the negative camber you are running must be helping you out a lot.
Here's another question though..."Do you have the stock 335i wishbone links and tension links?

I added the M3 wishbone links and M3 tension links and that pushed my wheels out a decent amount so I'm more apt to rub where as someone with the stock links wouldn't.

So, now I have to think about this a little more. The overall diameter of wheel A is less than wheel B and that gives me more space between the tire and fender. So, maybe i wouldn't have rubbed with the 255s?
Have I confused anyone?

I do not have the M3 suspension parts in the front. I would end up with -3.3 camber... correcting it by pushing the top out will not work with 265 tires, that's why I will keep it like this.

You are right, 255x35 will give you more space then a 245x40, so good chance it will not rub
