Help regarding service reset, oil change...

Question,

Last week I went in to have the HPFP replaced under recall and have my inspection done since it was due and the dash was giving the service indicator.
The notes on the workorder state that they didn't change the oil since it was too early (5,592 miles left), however, they still reset the oil change indicator back to 15,000 miles or 01/2012!!!

Now I have used oil with a service indicator of 1 year or 15,000 miles. What should I do? Will the dealer reset it back tot he correct mileage? I'm kind of annoyed by this since they DID NOT change the oil but reset the oil indicator.

Thanks for the help

If your car needed an oil change anyway, I would just do the oil change yourself and live with the changed indicator. Not sure what the dealer will do about it... maybe just note when you are required to have another free oil change?

Last time I got an oil change was June 24,2010. It was a "low mileage oil change" so they didn't reset the service indicator. My next oil change would have been in June of 2011 or 5,592 miles, whichever came first.

But now, they reset it, back to 15,000 miles or Jan 2012 WITHOUT doing an oil change. So now, my next oil change according to the indicator is January 2012 instead of June 2011 which I'm entitled to.

I know I can do it myself but why pay for something that's already covered under the maintenance plan?

Any suggestions?

Believe it or not, I dont see what your car shouldnt see an Oil Change on the regular,
Just cause you get an Oil Change Free once a year, Dont mean you do it once a year..
What if you need it 2 times a year, or 3.. do you still wait till the free one? just food for thought..

Yes, I get what you're trying to say. The maintenance plan expires July 2011, the car has an in-service date of July 2007, the 4 years are up.

The thing is, I don't put enough miles on the car for it to see an oil change on the regular. While working in the city, I'd MTA it to Mid-town, 4 days a week it would sit under a car cover. The most I've driven since getting the car was in 2010 while I was unemployed and still I still didn't manage to rack up enough miles... lol.

I start a new job in Feb, downtown, and I'm going to MTA it again since thats the most cost effective way.

My last oil change under the maintenance plan should have been in this coming June according to the service records. I'm going to call the dealer tomorrow and see what they have to say.

Hmm, true. I guess I'll have one done from Matt@Cambertoe in the coming weeks and then try and get my last one from dealer in June.
