BMW Portable Navigation - Fault (Puma case)
Hi all,
Just for everyone's info, I had the BMW portable navigation installed by a main dealer (I had the parts because I was going to do it myself but changed my mind) in my E92. Anyway, it should have take BMW an hour to install..... 3 days later the dealer had finally installed it BUT it wasn't intergrated - the sound won't come through the speakers! After some digging they found there is a puma case on these! So I've paid BMW £220 (labour) for simply hard wiring a over priced sat nav! The dealer blamed BMW & BMW Customer Services said the dealer should have warned me before the install. So I've raised a complaint as this has been a complete waste of money if it's not intergrated & that BMW should not be selling these or even advertising this system when it's not intergrated. I'm waiting for an update on Monday as it's been referred to the BMW technical boffins or something to why it;s not working. Just a warning if anyone is thinking about this system. |

Wait, you've actually paid?
Despite them not actually having installed it as they should have done? I have to ask - why? They've admitted they haven't done what they were contracted to. They're taking the piss even asking to be paid, in my opinion. I would be furious they'd put me on the position of having to argue it.

Last resort I suppose is to claim on my credit card if they don't sort it or offer a refund!? |

I would definitely investigate that avenue if your dealer (in this case, stealer) doesn't play ball vis a vis a full refund.

Trading Standards would be a port off call too. You've contracted the garage to do a job which they clearly haven't done, yet still been charged for. The dispute between the garage & BMW CS has nothing to do with you, the garage did not fulfil their obligations.

Thanks for the advice!
Update from BMW CS.... the dealer has submitted a request for help & they need to check some settings on my car. They also wanted all the part numbers of kit, to see if it flags my vehicle for not being compatible - probably to blame me as I gave the dealer the parts (but I did order from another BMW dealer and had to give my vin number, so I'm not worried about this). So I just got to book my car in with the dealers for some checks! I'll keep this updated, it may help someone else in the future, thinking of buy this system! |
