Any advice on how to repair it ? It's on boot lid and pretty much goes from one end to the other. Shall i try fixing myself, smart repair or resprayed ?

Cheers

As expected, got a call from the British Transport Police, and not CCTV = no further investigation = no claim. Now need to get the scratch repaired...not keen on getting it resprayed as from experience with previous the respray can cause even more damage (overspray, paint matching, orange peel effect etc ).

Has anyone use the Sprayless Scratch Repair ? Seems like a good options and guarenteed for life...any one had experience of this ?

Hi,
I have a scratch similar to yours but only about 4" long on my door, ive taken it to 3 local sprayless scratch repair place's and all of them say the SSR wont work on a deep scratch. I dont think my scratch is that bad especially compared to the ones shown in the link below.

To be honest all the SSR testimonials and the before and after pic's must be bull.

We use autorestore at work who have been excellent. Trouble is as a private punter you have to pay £50 for the quote (refundable if used) and have enough space for them to set up a tent to house the work.

Sorry to hear of this nuisance. Hope things get rectified smoothly and without stress. Take it easy, you can't do anything about this sort of thing, neither can anyone else. As the French would say, "Ces't la vie".

Well, i did think about having go at a repair myself today, but after I had some practise on some stone chips..I decided it was best left to the pros.

Go some chap who does SSR to have a look tomorrow, and will pop down to a few smart repairs/chips away for quotes

Absolute scum! I would suggest getting it professionally repaired tho, so that the finish is perfect again as that's quite an obvious area. If you repair it yourself then the finish wont be perfect, and every time you see the repaired scratch you'll feel pis$ed off!

Well just my luck, was gonna kick start the day to drive around my BMW to get a few more quotes...and the battery is dead. dead as a dodo...just my f-ing luck.

Had to jump start it, and drove it around, but think i might need a new battery as the battey indicator is still black (insufficient charge ). life sucks.

Well got the car back from repairs...happy as larry. Took it to a place recommended by a friend and the finish is perfect. I am a picky f-er and i cannot tell the difference between the repair and original paint. Top marks.

Still damage on the wallet, but got a decent discount and good price compared to other quotes.
