Iphone 4 snap on adaptor

Hi,
I want to add the iphone4 snap on adaptor in my E90 2009 325i, the dealer told me if i attach the snap on adaptor only my signal strength will improve & battery will get charged of my iPhone. I won't have access to my music from my iPhone as he said over here in India bmw hasn't updated the Idrive with some "link" software, is this true or its some BS

with the bmw y cable i can play music from my iPhone, will the bluetooth hand free also work at the same time?
