Aftermarket HU Advice
So I had my mind set on setting up using Audison Bit one and Technic Harness but I keep being drawn into the idea of having a new HU with bluetooth connection and ipod connectivity etc etc..
Wondering what you guys could recommend for Single Din (Flip Screen or no standard). must have bluetooth + ipod connectivity. Must not have lots of flashy lights lol.. Rough price guide of circa £200-£250. |

FYI
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...hlight=dynavin
You have to do the above if you want the BMW programmer/diagnostic compuuter to work with your car also you will loose the door chimes as described above . Any BMW functions that are attached to the most bus will not work or cause errors if you do not relocate the head unit . If you do not install the head unit at least keep the old head unit so if you get into trouble you can reinstall it for car reprogramming. One guy here bought a car with an aftermarket head unit had to have a anti lock brake sensor replaced and could not get the new calibration values written to the cars computers because of this . http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1260829447 There are people that do this most of the face plates look terrible . The dynavin unit is pretty popular and looks like it belongs there. I don't know how good the quality is but its pretty much a bargin for the functions you get . It cannot be added easily if you have logic 7 as is the case with any aftermarket head unit because of the fiberoptic connection to the amp in the trunk. If you do a search on head unit many examples will pop up. If you start out with the base system you may not have a Most Bus . There have been posts on here saying the pioneer units are not very reliable. Last edited by ctuna; 10-01-2011 at 01:11 PM.. |

Thanks ^^ ctuna.. I have the basic spkr package, not HiFi and I hear about relocating the OEM HU to the back for some odd reason.. I am still considering this route but looks like a few glitches do also exist..
For someone who doesn't have a single CLUE about tuning but wants a KICK ASS system.. do you think having... Focal KRS 100 Audison Bit.1 4 channel Amp SWS Earthquakes Technic's Harness (future plans to install a trunk sub blasting throught the skit hatch) .. would be a good package? I just got to take such a liking to this alpine HU I saw that has built in parrot bluetooth facility + ipod connection that can be controlled on the HU itself.. as opposed to the above set up.. and then adding some other bits n bobs for the bluetooth n ipod? What say you and indeed anyone else? What is the cheapest/cost effective way of adding ipod connection and bluetooth if I was to stick with my bit.1 and OEM HU? |

I don't know if anything is cost effective
Denison has some adapters that have bluetooth and ipod but I think there meant to work with Most Bus systems . Apparently the newer base systems don't have a most bus. (or maybe they never did)
When you look at it you get more features changing the head unit but its a pinta to get everything working right afterwards . If you change the head unit you probably would get better amplification in the process as I understand the base system is extra wimpy in this department. http://www.e90post.com/forums/attach...2&d=1266451970 |
