Did you try searching the DMV site?

If you're still looking for this info, I did the Euro Switch a couple of days ago.

I ordered a 5-piece plastic trim removal set from Amazon. I'm a Prime member so two-day shipping was free.

I started on the left side of the trim using the thinnest tool and worked the left side loose, then I inserted the tool between the trim and the dash and worked the right side loose. You don't want to pull the left side out too much or it will put pressure on the pins on the right side. Once both sides are pulled out a little you can insert the tool at the top and then just pull it straight out.

never. it shouldn't either. All the switch does is allow the blank button to become a press button. make sure you put the wires back right.

Nice write up and pics. The US switch can be modified very easily to provide the same function for no cost, of course to switch will lack the proper symbology but that frees up your checking account for other mods.

look it up on realoem.com - but when you input the specs of your car say ECE instead of USA.

I got my switch from ECS tuning because they were the only source of the switch with the metal trim that I could find. (not sure if 2008 uses metal trim or black trim.) Works fine for me. Only weirdness is that apparently the rear fog can be turned on without the front fogs being on, which seems odd to me but it's not actually a problem...

good luck!

OP, thanks, I was going to install the switch by this method:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJfgikex5dc

but removal of the trim makes things easier.

I just installed the 61 31 9 169 404 switch and works perfectly. However, outside Europe, these switches are pretty expensive ~135 plus shipping.

confirmed 2012 335i convertible E93

Hello everyone,

Confirmed this works for free with NO additional parts or modification, using this guide http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=531296

I have a 2012 335i E93 convertible, and I cut the little plastic tabs off and the light works flawlessly. No need to buy the switch unless you want to. Don't even have to disconnect the battery, just pull, pull, cut, reassemble, viola'!

Brand new rear fogs!

I just did this tonight. So EASY! The E90 trims literally come off with your bare hands. Only used a flat head screw driver to start the prying before I realized the wood trim/vent comes off if you pull it and the lighting trim comes off by just lightly pulling on it.

I did NOT pay $150 for the switch ECS Tuning sells. Just scour eBay on the international search and you will find lots of these BMW Euro Spec switches for under $50.

Only down side is shipping from Eastern Europe can take 2 weeks to a month to get stuff to the USA.
