Very nice set up, your expert opinion, since i don't have the winter package (i don't have the ski pass thru or split seats) will the sub still sound just as good? I heard this was a problem in the E39s, the BSW subs didn't sound as good with cars that did have the winter package.

s.myrr,
Great install! I’m about to install the same system on my 2006 325i non-Logic system. I do have a question the PEQ remote install. How and where did you route the PEQ remote wire. How did you get the wire from the trunk to the cabin? Any info would be great. How does it attached to the seat? It looks like you have the perfect location for this remote. Thanks! Isaac |

Second Opinion and BSW Stage I install tips
After reading s.myrr's thread, I went ahead an installed the stage I last night. I was careful and took 4 hours. One of the tweeters was DOA and I am waiting for Halston to get back to me on it. I have the Logic7 system but no iDrive.
Like the instruction on BSW's website, most things are straight forward but there are a couple of things to be careful of: 1. The center channel is only easy if you have a offset screw driver and I don't know why BSW couldn't throw that in. I hardly used any of their tools besides the plastic pry tool so I think the tool kit is not really a necessary purchase. BTW, I dropped a small screw driver down my left center vent while trying to unscrew the screw. Can't get it out even with an antenna magnet! 2. The rear channels behind the seats are even tougher because the lack of space. The covers are surprisingly flimsy. After breaking a tab on the right side I went really slow and still broke the left one. But it is inconsequential since the cover will still work. 3. The rear doors are somehow are a little trickier to line up after everything is installed. I popped a part of two of those plastic tabs. Sound Quality: I have to say, there is definitely a good deal of improvement over the Logic7. There is much more dynamic range and mid-bass. At the same time, the mid bass can be a little too boomy. I like bass but I like it tight. Don't know how much more the sub can do since I already have enough bass as is. After driving around a couple of hours and also listening in my garage I feel this was a worthwhile upgrade although I wish BMW's were a little more audio upgrade friendly. I would love to get some focal speakers that really upgrade the midrange. Ultimately, the middle is where all the vocals in everything from hip-hop to classical lies. Halston, can I get another tweeter? Last edited by yobouty; 04-02-2009 at 02:32 PM.. Reason: picture |

Definitely
I am waiting to hear back from my build house. As I said we don't have individual drivers as we ramp up to full stock. Thanks for the review. |

BSW customer service problems!
I am still waiting for my tweeter that was DOA almost 2 months ago. Just get the run around. Folks, if you get BSW, good luck if you have any problems.

+1 on the above post....
Thinking about a Stage 1, because my 335i came with the base audio. I like the idea of a 30 day money back guarantee, but imagine if you DID want to return it. Yobouty can't even get one DOA speaker replaced in two months. I can imagine what would happen if you want to get rid of all of them. I'm always shocked at guys who don't make customer service a priority in the age of the internet. D

trunk sub
Ok, I have a question. Looking at the BSW website, the trunk sub does not fit in the 335 because of the dual exhaust. Is this correct, because the OP installed it and he is in a 335 e90.
Any ideas? Jason

I believe the storage bin creates the enclosure, and I don't think they have a 12 inch model for the e9x.

I have couple of questions as I might get my hands on a Stage 1 kit: 1) I have access to some dynamat. Any rattling appeared? I saw some other thread (more like prof install on) they applied dynamat behind the BMW door panel (or sound deadening panel) 2) You mentioned for those who doen't want a sub should only do stage 1, if those who want sub and only do do stage 1. How is it? Is the SQ still there or go all the way? Thanks for the help! |

just buy replacement plastic washers, they are about 50 cents each i think there are about 10 per door and 3 or 4 per rear side panel and make sure you don't drop any of the small round felt washers, those make sure the washer is in tight
