on the coupe it's option code 760.

find a new dealer if that's the lazy half-ass treatment you get.

Hey Dave,

Please keep us updated if you are able to acquire the shadowline trim here in the US on your 335i. It would be great to know how much that option costs and where/how you acquired and had it installed. I think the shadowline trim looks great on certain color cars.

Cheers!

I found the part numbers in the parts etk. The left rain gutter moulding is 51-76-8-036-661 and the right rain gutter moulding is 51-76-8-036-662. The pricing is pretty expensive on those pieces. Expect to pay around $500 for each side. You will also need the belt mouldings. The front left belt moulding part number is 51-33-8-036-657 and the front right belt moulding part number is 51-33-8-036-658. The rear left belt moulding part number is 51-37-8-036-659 and the rear right belt moulding part number is 51-37-8-036-660. The front left belt moulding by the mirror part number is 51-33-8-036-663 and the front right belt moulding by the mirror is 51-33-8-036-664.

Just out of curiosity, is your trim around your windshield (front and back) black? I saw a picture in the new car brochure of a E92 328i that had chrome trim around the windshields and I can't seem to find it in the parts etk. We also don't have any coupes in stock now so I can't check.

The mouldings are not easy to take off but not really difficult. It just takes patience and a steady hand. I'd say the hardest part is not scatching your paint.

Thanks justdtm, I'm gonna add those part numbers to the part number master list for the benefit of all E92 owners. Its a common request it seems...

cantcope: Have you shopped around those part numbers? Check with JD at crownauto parts, he has good prices and good access to euro parts.

I ordered the matte black exterior window trim for my E90 335i, which I have the part #'s for, but not for the E92, unfortunately. I looked at shadowline trim (it's on the M5), but it's shiny. Getting the matte black (comes stock on 328's) to replace chrome on a 335 consists of 6 parts. It looks fantastic and you don't have to replace the pillar trim or rear view window trim, because they're already matte black. Plus, the matte black trim only costs about $300 from tischer/mile one. Up to you if you want to spend the major bucks to get shiny black (ie, shadowline). On my TiAg car, the matte looks very clean and was a great bang for the buck mod.

Yes. I paid around $800 for parts on my E90; and that's not counting the door pillars and side mirrors.

Shouldn't be hard to get at all. Just have your dealership order parts. It's not a factory option for NA models AFAIK.

Yes, you can use vinyl overlays. Search around on the forums; many ppl have applied matte black vinyl with success.

Since M3s have them as an option, I wonder what the price on the M3 part number would be.

Nice, I work at BMW dealership so I was thinking of ordering the shadowline trim at our cost and have it put on. But I saw the pics about the shadowline trim overlays and they look pretty good as well. But I wonder how they would look in person?

Good question. I saw this trim in person on an E92 M3 in person at a local dealership. It was pretty HOT looking. Damn, I need to get me some trim.

yea i think it should be shadowline if its going to be black. the matte looks wrong since the strip dividing the windows on the e92 is glossy. if not for that i would just wrap in vinyl.

I am likely going to swap the shadowline trim on my 335 coupe.

How much have dealerships or bodyshops been charging (in labor) to replace the trim with new parts?

I also have Shadowline on my e90,but after i washed the car two or three times at the carwasher( they use active foam) that contains acids i think to remove dirt, my door channel covers lost their glossy finish, now they look so bad ,i think i will paint them with simple glossy black paint,I will take some pictures later...

Painted mine...$5-$10 and looks great. I'd never waste close to a grand for the shadowline trim. It's a rip-off.

What paint did you use? Did you just mark it off with masking tape? More details please. I'm either gonna do that or vinyl it.

I painted mine too. I'll write up a DIY on how to take the trim off.
