TX - Ever Got Failure to Display Front Plate Ticket?

Just wondering if anyone ever got a ticket (solely) for failure to display a front plate?

I never did, but just curious to see if there are instances out there.

I haven't. My dad has been pulled over before for turning right on red without stopping and just got a warning for it and the front plate. There is no fine anyways

I did on my old camaro about 10 years ago. I work right next to a big police station/court house in Houston now and drive by cops frequently without a front plate, they don't really seem to look for that. If you do get a ticket, all you have to do is take a pic of your car with a plate on and show it to the judge and they will dismiss it.

Never. I've been driving for over two years with no front plate, and I've been seen by plenty of cops. I think if you get pulled over for speeding or something, they may bring it up.

My husband got pulled over/ticketed for it once in Coppell, where the cops literally have nothing better to do than troll for BS reasons to pull you over. I've never been pulled over for it.

^ Ya coppell cops are dicks! i live in lewisville and i try to stay out of coppell as much as possible.

op, ive been pulled over 3 times for no front plate. Every time it was by a state trooper, never a city cop. First 2 times i got a verbal warning and this last time i got a written warning.

All the time. I don't have plates on either of my cars. I'll get stopped about every year or so (twice in the last 3 months though). They normally only stop you in local small towns or when traveling between cities. If you leave the city, put it in your window.

They just use the plate as a reason to run your license, and look for other bigger items. Frequently you can get off with a warning, assuming you aren't riding dirty, lol.

seems like all the folks closer to the DFW area encounter this... I even encounter more speed traps (and more regularly) coming up to DFW than I do on my trips to and from Houston.

Houston's just a free-for-all. Doing 80-90 on I-10 seems the norm for folks trying to beat rush hour... and then you just get the whole spectrum of cars that come along with a massive wealthy city.

I've been pulled over once in the last 5+ years that I've lived in DFW with no front plate. I ended up getting a ticket along with 2 other tickets (all questionable) and I believe that the no front plate portion set me back about $200 or so. I wasn't able to dismiss a portion of the ticket since it was attached to other citations or some BS like that.

I have gotten a ticket a few times. Put your plate back on, they inspect it (double-sided tape will be tested! lol!), and then they reduce the fine to $10.

It's a pain in ass when you get ticketed, but only $10 when it's all said and done.

Been ticketed before because I refused to drill holes. Eventually bought a tow hook plate holder. Has to be one of favorite purchases for the car.

As far as the location of the ticket, I was in south Texas. In the DFW area I was never messed with about it. DPS got me for it. I think it is a matter of how much time they have on their hands. If its a slow day... "hey, look! no front plate!"

F' The Colony, TX! I have gotten at least two there. Cops over there are a pain in my ass everytime I drive through.

Never happens when the donut shops are open though... strange.

Just use some zip ties or borrow a tow-hook bracket for a few hours... drive up to the court house, some one will check it out or use a picture, and then take off and continue life as normal

Weird, everyone says that but I haven't been pulled over, knocking on wood. My neighbor gets it bad in his charger though, seat belt tix, no front lp, exhibition of acceleration, 37 in a 30 (morning star rd, don't speed at all there!!!) Even my tahoe has no front lp, no problems lol.

Maybe because I give them the "half-as#ed steering wheel wave" when they are in my 'hood?

got a ticket for no front license plate in San Antonio about 4 years ago...was driving a srt-4 neon at the time. I think it was just a dick of a cop. Had the BMW since Dec 2011 with no front license plate. Been pulled over already and they didn't even mention it.

Pulled over 3 times now for no front license plate. Nothing else, just no from LP. 2 in DFW area and 1 on 35 on the outskirts of Austin.

PS: ....and, STILL no LP on my front bumper

I have one in the tow hook right now to avoid dealing with any more police at the moment. Got fed up with the locals after I got in an accident here.

But back when I didn't run a front plate, I would only get pulled over by state troopers on my drive between cities.

You're more likely to get a speeding ticket unless you drive like a grandma IMO.
