S6NFA Smartphone Bluetooth USB/Audio
Can it be retrofitted to a 2006 (UK 56 plate) 335i E92?
When I bought the car last October, my dealer retrofitted iPod integration, which I believe must be S6FLA USB/audio interface as I have an iPod lead in my glovebox which works with my old 2GB iPod nano (and charges it), my son's iPod Touch (doesn't charge it), my other son's iPod nano 5th gen (doesn't charge it) and my own iPhone 3GS (iPod only and doesn't charge). All can be controlled as a CD changer through iDrive. (I also have DAB radio but don't expect its relevant.) I also have an iPhone 3G cradle in my centre console and this charges my iPhone and uses the roof antenna. It connects to iDrive via Bluetooth - all OK. But I cannot play my tunes from the iPhone's iPod when it is in the cradle without S6NFA. So what is S6NFA? Is it just a cable from the centre console to the S6FLA (I know you can't use a cradled iPhone's iPod and a glovebox iPod simultaneously) or is it a separate box? Is there a retrofit part number I can quote my dealer? Thanks. |

Thanks again. I found the USB retrofit PDF you posted on another forum. This is exactly what I had retrofitted which would suggest I might be able to have the USB smartphone retrofitted too? Suppose my car was 03/07, do you have a similar PDF for the smartphone retrofit?

Regardless, there is no official 6NF Smartphone retrofit no matter if you have the 6FL or not. |

I've looked on my original bill. Unfortunately there are no part numbers, only the description: iPod USB Connection and Lead (GBP 347.83) However, there's no sign of an additional USB socket in the glovebox, but the installer could have been lazy and left this out as they knew I was only interested in iPod - not a memory stick. I think I'll drop out the glovebox and see exactly what they installed. I know there is still no official retrofit for smartphone, but if the factory fitted option is only USD 150.00, it can't be much more than a cable from the armrest to the iPod interface can it? Surely it must be possible to buy the components as normal spare parts and DIY? |
