Just got the pe mod done yesterday by FamilyManTrackSedan and the car sounds amazing! During cruising and light throttle the tone is subtle but once I'm on it its definitely noticeable. If anyone in the tristate area is looking to get a PE mod I would definitely recommend him! The welds on the pe mod look great!

After I installed catless downpipes(VRSF) over PE mod and second cats removed the sound was very raspy and had a lot of drones when accelerating. To fix this I just add resonators to replace the straight pipes where the stock second cats were...

Seems like 95%+ of mentions are of N54 models. Assuming no real difference if a N55?
I am leaning toward doing this as mine is a 2013 335i Convertible with M Sport option and very limited exhaust options and what are available are $1k+ |

Get a set of 335is mufflers and do the golf tee mod. If you have a sedan, you'll have to delete the center resonator and replace it with an x pipe. Result will sound almost exactly like a PE exhaust. Can be done for $650 or less |

Went thru this Thread has anyone done all four pipes??
I know this will make it a straight pipe but it will be incased inside the muffler and routed so it should make the sound different then doing a complete muffler delete. By going thru videos some sound better then others. |

Did my outer pipes with exhaust tape so you or the next owner can take it back to stock sound anytime. Sounds great! Divided all packing into both mufflers 50/50. Loud when you step on in but comfortable when cruising. Have catless dp also. No drone. That raspy sound when reving to 5000 is addicting. Finished it off with dual 4inch tips. Sport exhust for 100 dollar |

Also it's not straight pipe, having that middle section helps with drone for both setups. Best to leave the middle alone from what I have heard. Getting mine done at the moment |

I just did the pe mod in my pre-lci e90 n54. Unfortunately the drone in the highway is too much. I'm wondering if I should have left the resonator in vs putting in an x pipe.
Does anyone else have drone? Maybe he didn't put back in the packing material into the exhaust or is it the x pipe? If the x pipe I'll have him put back the resonator. Thanks! |

It would help if you give more info about your setup (tune, flap bypass, cats, downpipes, etc.)?

No, it was just the one perforated on each side. This guy has done many of these cars and he said many don't do the x-pipe but that could be because he has done e92.
When reading this thread people said it was quiet when cruising and you only really heard the loudness when accelerating harder. I feel it's just loud all the time and annoying when I'm just light on the pedal and cruising at highway speed. Maybe something didn't get welded fully? Just want to know if my expectations were off. Didn't want the inside of the car to be feeling that drone / rumble all the time. Also, I don't hear the burble. Is that something heard only from the outside or in a garage? |
