Impressed with the n54 numbers

Unfortunately I had to sell my 335i last year but I am looking to get back into one. I am very impressed with the numbers being put down with the new single turbo kits. 500-600+whp??? SIGN ME UP.

Are these kits and number limited to the N54, or will the N55 be hitting the same numbers eventually? At what point does meth injection become a requirement? I wouldnt want to daily drive something that requires meth 100% of the time. (I suppose map switching is an option).

Realistically, I want a 435i next year and am curious if the potential will be the same?

I don't think it has the same potential. As for me n54 is the best bmw engine to mod it!!!

Due to the N55's undersized factory turbo and the complete lack of an aftermarket turbo setup it has yet to be pushed to the limits like the N54. It very well may hold 600whp+ like a champ.

As far as "when does meth become necessary?" Well, it should never be necessary. The stock fuel system runs out of fuel at around 550whp and requires an upgraded LPFP and HPFP to push much beyond that. Water/meth injection offers benefits that would be a shame to not take advantage of. However, it should never be used as a fueling system band aid.

If your plans are waiting for the 435i anyway then I suggest just keeping up to date on new and emerging hardware/tuning solutions and make a decision on what to get when the time to buy arrives
