New paving job on Northern State Parkway
Is it me or has anyone else found that the newly repaved portion of the eastbound Northern State Parkway from New Hyde Park Road to the Meadowbrook Parkway leaves a lot to be desired?
Since our cars are so intuned to the road, it feels that the repaving is well below the quality of what is expected for a new road surface. I thought that maybe I was driving over the first layer but then I noticed that they had already installed the reflective lane markers in the road surface. I guess they got the job that the lowest bidder was capable of doing. Nice try but no cigar.

LOL, yea I noticed that too. I think people were complaining about how long the road was rough and they said "F" it , lets just pave it and skip a few steps and be done.
Also I wish they tell the driver when they start doing construction, before they rip up the road. I swear one day its fine than the next day its like driving a rally event.

I usually take the Northern State to avoid the trucks on the LIE and when I first took the NSP when they did the initial resurfacing, I was cursing so much because all those little rocks that they don't sweep up keep bouncing off the front bumper and windshield!

The paving quality in NYC is getting worse. They repaved the roads on a few blocks near me and every house was flooded last week.
I take the NSP everyday to work and that road is brutal. Full of smalls rocks which I try to avoid from driving on the LIE but now it's on both. |

Last week they started resurfacing the westbound lanes where the four laner starts. I freaked when I saw how they left the condition of the road surface. It looked like they had started and had to stop in the middle when the rains came because the loose gravel was not swept and the Hummer commercials show smoother surfaces.
