Outrageous pricing.

Interested in getting the "Smartkey+" so I did a little googling and found Mods for cars who stated that the Canadian dealer is Pfaff. I contacted Pfaff and was told it would be $640 plus taxes installed......WTF. I did a little more digging and found it for $249 plus $18 shipping USD from EAS and was told it was an easy do it yourself job. I guess I won't be going to Pfaff for ANYTHING.

It is very easy to install, dealers always want to stick it to us!!!

A good alternative would be to try your local +12V audio installer - who could probably install the system at a lower rate.

Time needed for installation would be about an hour.

I'm led to believe the Smartkey+ will allow the clown nose to be active on a 2006 330i with alarm pre-wire, but was told by someone that this feature will not work unless you have the actual alarm installed??????

That's incorrect. The reasoning for remoteKEY+ was to emulate alarm features, not requiring a OEM alarm be installed.

Alarm emulation in the remoteKEY+ includes confirmation chirps when "arming" as well as the LED mirror flash, which is used as a deterrent.
