So To date I\'ve been stoked on getting an Injen intake. I\'ve been harassing Jeff this whole time about getting me a packaged deal and then I saw it...on their website!

STETT CAI!!! It looks awesome and I love the fact that it\'s a real CAI.

Does anyone have any experience with either. I\'d like some info from some peeps who hve the stett and others with injen.

I've had Injen. Installed a Stett on my friend's car. Definitely go with the Stett.

We're you ever able to compare the two in terms of responsiveness/results? From what I understand these motors just want more air
And cold air isn't even a big issue...
That being said, is stett proven better over injen? Have you had both on a stock 335i?

I don't feel like I have ever noticed a difference in responsiveness or power between a CAI (STETT / UR) and Injen. However, the Injen will pull in hotter air so theoretically (third time I use this word on e90post today ) the Injen will make your intake temps higher by a few degrees.

I'd say that STETT > Injen in performance. And if you just want to flow more air then a basic DCI like the ones EAS, Vishnu, and BMS sell should do just fine.

Basically the only reason to buy Injen is because you like how it looks. It's also got fitment issues with aftermarket blow off valves / etc so you know for the future.

Well I'm more concerned with performance and responsiveness.
However, I wasn't aware that there were former issues lol...

I've been talking to Jeff and right now I'm looking at getting COBB, one of the above intakes and ER CP w/ Tial BOV.

I'm certain I want COBB, I'm still iffy about the intake since I saw STETT's actual CAI and the CP/BOV combo

I have COBB and the ER CP / Tial BOV combo. All bought from Jeff.

Choose the intake that you feel confident with and that you think is good. Jeff's also full of good advice when it comes to this.

For the people that have used both the Injen and STETT. Are you not afraid of hydro lock ??? I feel like just by bringing your car to the car wash would blow water right into the fender where the cone would e sitting?

I have the Stett and the only way you are going to hydrolock is by going through water that is as deep or deeper than your fog lights. A car wash isn't going to do it unless you have the engine running and you are spraying water up the pipe.

This question comes up in about every CAI thread. I've driven my Stett CAI through some pretty heavy downpours and even tracked it once in the rain without issue. The only time I threw a code for "Oil Condition Sensor" was doing exactly as you described; I took it through a self wash and like an idiot, I sprayed the high pressure hose straight in where the intake filter is. Now in the interest of full and fair disclosure, some people have thrown that same code after tracking their cars, which I did that day (in the rain).

With that being said, there have been many stories of cars experiencing hydrolock, but no N54's on this board to my knowledge have had it happen (and there are quite a few people running them). IMHO, don't worry about it unless you drive through a pond. (Or at least a puddle that is as deep as the top of your foglights as JStang said.)

So has anyone actually done dump results after an injen or stett CAI install? I'd be interested I see results because from what I'm seeing these engines are air hungry. So having cold air is t necessarily a big deal, but just more air.

I guess where this makes me uncomfortable is that injen only breathes hot air, albeit more air then stock and the stett is actually pulling cold air. I've never been fond of feeding my engine hot air, I think it defeats the purpose of an intake.

The problem with the stock intake is its a bottleneck so anything is improvement when running a tune and or high boost.

The question then remains if you want to splurge for the potential power increases of a true cold air or or happy with the turbo's just breathing better albeit maybe having some hotter air.

Those purchase depends on where you value your money. Strictly performance, looks, or basic function.

The injen does have its quirks with aftermarket charge pipes and BOV, but I think the evolution racewerks fits as the BOV is mounted near the TMAP. (It is on my car anyway).

Something like the BMS DCI does work for the high boost and top end. Only reason we run it is because we run methanol otherwise I would probably get the Stett CAI myself or look into a DIY Mr5 style intake.

I have the STETT intake and love it.. Great sound, definitely feel an increased throttle response. Don't forget to the the factory block off plate with your intake if you go with Stett.

Well I've looked at the Mr.5 set-up and was intrigued that someone had the balls to do this. I've always wanted to, but never had the resources until now.

I'd be curious to do a Mr.5 set-up with the end tube running down into the fog light so it's a CAI/stock box. This would probably be best given that you are grabbing both more air and cold air.
