Anyone know much about the x5?

Just wondering with the current economy how good a deal is realistic for the X5 3L diesel?

And will there be an update soon?

sorry the new but not the 200kw one (not worth the extra 10k imho).

Hows the maintenance cost? brakes, tires etc? Q7 is really bad, wondering if its coz its audi? or coz its universal across all heavy cars....

Not sure on Tyres/Brakes yet, Hes had the car for about 6 months. Got 2 years BMW Used Car Warranty with it. It handles like a Pro on the beach, It gets used as a 4WD occasionally instead of a Suburban people mover.

I know how u feel.

I have a e53 2004 diesel. It averages around 9L/100k but after chipping, it averages around 10l/100ks. I really think it depends on ur driving. My friend who brought the car together with me average 8.7l/100k which is what bmw says.

Sorry mate .... no sympathy from me here!!!. Only thing I ever agreed with Paul Keating on was he called 4WD's "a pox on our society". For each, their own but regardless of how the manufactures tart these up, I still see them as glorified trucks.

Nothing glorified about the stupid things, they are registered as Trucks, not cars...

hey mate,

i know a bit about the x5 (i have one ) and my err (cough) alias name says it all

I am not too sure about the best price (that is what you are asking about right??) - what state are you in

You'll find maintenance, not that bad really, brakes, tires etc are just like anything else really..they are pretty good for a large car...

compared to range rover, cayenne, q7 and ml - i have never owned any, but pretty much driven all except for the q7 (And even then i heard it doesnt go that good)

when you look at the price of say a E92/E93 - it is pretty good value for money... option to have 7 seats, full panoramic roof etc....tow boats/jetski's easily...

but then on the X5 there's NO new '09 idrive, still the old one.

as for comparison with the 200kw one - well the only difference is more power (30kW) and (60Nm) of torque - lastly the other difference is the "brake size" - the brakes on a twin turb. diesel x5 are larger than those on the "V8" andthe normal turb. diesel...believe it or not

updates - none that i know of, oh - later in the year X5M and X6M are coming, with talk of around 500 - 550 bhp (sh*t!!)

yea just wondering what deals people been getting....

Thats unfortunate about the no update on Idrive

What is the typical service/tire/brake cost? feels so much more than a sedan!

200KW version doesnt sound like its worth the extra 10K+ !

Tyres would cost a bomb for an X5, the new 3.0sd i got given as a courtesy car a few weeks back, had 19"s (or were they 20"s...? Either way, big & OEM) with rear tyres 315/40r19 at the back & 285/45r19 at the front, now those puppies are going to cost the best part of a grand a pop!
