New Motor

Some of you may know that I have had rather a lot of issues with the C350 CDI Mercedes that I traded my 335D Touring in for last year.

At last we have reached a conclusion and it has been returned. So on Thursday afternoon I set out to look for a new car for the same sort of money as the Mercedes knowing it was the end of most car dealers sales quarter and looking for something in stock for delivery this weekend. The perfect customer surely.

So my first port of call was BMW but there was simply no stock available of anything with a 3 litre diesel engine in it so i had to move on.

Lots of running around to other garages followed but yesterday I took delivery of this few month old motor:

It's an A7 3.0 TDI Quattro with around £15k of options on it (I think somebody got carried away with the options list)

To early to pass judgement but its certainly a big step up from the C350 or the 335D in terms of refinement and is much more of a long distance cruiser than an ultimate driving machine. Indeed the word big is the first thing that comes to mind when you stand next to it. At 5m long its much bigger than the pictures would have you believe.

I'll let you know how I get on after a month

The A7 looks nice for a big car.
I tried an A5 as a replacement for my 335d Touring. Nice car overall, but the engine (245bhp 3 litre derv) was underwhelming compared to the 335, so I'll be sticking to BMW!

(I did a mini-review on here a couple of weeks ago)

It wasn't Mercedes Benz that did the right thing. It was the dealer that sold me the car.

I like the A7 but the back end looks like it's melted.

Great car.....but I suppose I am a little biased lol

Still love mine but its just a little boring. I like doing mods to cars and there really isn't anything around for A7's at all.

I spec'd it with 20's on already and yet to see a wheel I like better then the ones already fitted. I have done the front grille black which looks a bit more aggressive and tinted the front windows to blend in a little with the factory rears

Enjoy the motor

Looks nice but the S-line version would be the only one for me.

Glad you got it sorted, it does look big so bet it is lovely as refined

The problem with the S-Line range is it makes all the other cars, well not quite as wow!

That is nice. Does the media screen fold away?

Screen folds on an A6 so I imagine the A7 is the same. Have to say i'm not sure on the current trend for large fold away screens, they look a bit "add on" really. Why not just build them in nicely to the dash for a much more integrated look?

I agree but it's not so much an issue if it folds away. The ones in the F30 look crap IMO.

I know what you mean however this thing is deceptive.

On first glance it looks like a common or garden A5 so doesn't get much attention.

It's only when you get closer that you realise that it's too big to be an A5.

To be fair, the S Line is nice but I can't see all that kit when I am sat inside the car so it doesn't bother me. Besides, going on some of the car parks I have to leave it in, the less "look at me" shouting the car does, the better.

I really like these. I rarely see them on the roads but they always make me look twice when I do. In terms of scale I thought it was a bit like a much better looking Panamera.
