how can you make your calipers red w/o bbk?

Anyone have any good ideas on how to get this done right without getting the BBK.I think my brakes are perfect as is.I think the red calipers would look really good with alpine white on my e90 335i.Any advice on how to do this properly would be really appreciated, thanks.

just get the paint, its like $10-20 for a box that contains a brush, cleaner, and a small container of paint.

Its easy!

You would need high temp resistant paint for metal surfaces.

Serious question. Would this be considered rice on a BMW?

It could but who cares. It your car, do what pleases you. I considered painting mine blue to match the BMW roundel back when I got my E46 330xi in 2002. Never got around doing it. Today I would do it on any of my cars. THe only way I would have colored calipers would be if I would go BBK or the car came with them that way (stock Brembo).

I dont think its rice at all.How many porsches and other high end cars have these.Plenty. I think it looks good if its done right.Especially with a white car, lowered, with badass wheels like the VS7. IMHO anyway.

I think it looks good. My buddy just painted his wife's calipers on her Nissan X-Trail, but that was just painted black to hide some rust. He's got the calipers painted blue on his VW GTI VR6 and it looks great!

Maybe when I swap off the winters for summers next year I'll pick a colour and go nuts!

Why don't you just get the Brembo covers? It's basically the Brembo Cover in Red/Blk/etc, but without BBK. =D

If you want to paint them, G2 caliper paint works the best IMO. You paint it on and they look almost like they were powdercoated. Personally, I hate the look of stock brakes when they are painted red, but to each his own.

I agree, the stock calipers are too small to be considered BBK (red calipers are seen in many BBK or on stock cars that come standard with Brembo). Any enthousiast will be able to tell. But to each his/her own.

i thought about painting my stock calipers, but thought it would draw attention to how small they are, so i opted for a bbk from bremo

BREMBO BRAKE CALIPAR COVERS ARE A BAD IDEA
theyve already been brought up, and a bad choice bcuz of heating problems. the covers wud just be damange and maybe melt away cuz of brake heating....

best bet, paint ur calipars, i did (car color match)... bcuz i had to get a specific color to match my monaco blue. i bought engine enamel dark blue (they have calipar spray paint, but not in my color, so i engine enamels had more variety and are also heat resistant) , and it was spray paint, made my job easier.... i took off the wheels, covered the rotor and surrounding brake area with paper, taped paper to stay, sprayed brake cleaner so paint wud stick properly, and then did like 2-3 coats of spray paint on em.... it covered the entire calipar and worked like a charm...
painted calipars, specially dark colors, dont draw too much attention to stock brakes, but give the wheels a finished look, specially if u have a lot of empty space behind ur wheel

I think it would look sweet...too bad the BBK is so expensive, or I'd just get that!

Agreed. To look really good, they need powder coating and this is a lot more expensive than the (otherwise excellent) DIY. If I could find a shop to do mine in black, I might be interested...
