WTB OEM DP's
As the Title says, I am looking for a set of OEM DP's. I junked mine last year and need to find a cheap set. If anyone has some laying around their garage let me know.

Aha, good thinking. You're close to Inspection 2, correct? I've been thinking about DPs and Cobb, but am probably going to ride with stock and S3 for awhile longer. I just scored a bnib Dinan CF intake at a nice discount, so that's my budget for this quarter.

Among various other stock parts...

Hydroplaning + oversteer + overcorrection... she took out a couple of trees in the process but didn't make it. BMW does make a remarkably safe product though. |

Yeah, good that you weren't injured. Where did this happen - here in the Austin area or were you on a trip?

It's still at the body shop but with more than $27,000 in damage. Insurance is fairly certain it's a total loss but can't say it officially until the adjuster crunches the numbers. But let's be honest... my car is worth less than $25,000 so there's no way it won't be.
Right now I'm in the process of picking up an e46 M3. It's an emotional choice and not a practical one FWIW. I need a project to tinker with and I think it would be a lot of fun with forced induction and proper track prep. Then I'll probably try to find something else as a daily driver down the road. I've realized the practicality of not having a daily driver that's apart in the garage every other weekend. Thanks! Happened in my own neighborhood at night as I was coming home. Traction control had been bothering me all night so I had turned it off, then I managed to somehow lose the rear end going around a turn and as I corrected to try to straighten it out again it reaquired traction and the car turned much more suddenly than I had anticipated. Just didn't have time to avoid the trees, but I'm glad I didn't end up hitting any cars or people or houses. Lesson learned. Traction control will stay on from now on. |

It could have been much worse, so it's good to hear that your car bore most of the damage. I'm sure it was a hell of a scare, though! I always leave DTC alone when it's raining or is still wet outside - considering the power our cars have and those wide tires that tend to aquaplane in the wet.
You just missed an opportunity to buy the absolute cream of the crop E46 M3 from one of our chapter members - she'd had it since new, low mileage, and spotless. Your favorite color (black) as well. She now has a Z4 M Coupe (rare) and hated to sell it, but someone bought it about a 10 days ago. I knew a guy in NW Houston who had a shop specializing in E46 M3 forced induction - both super- and turbo-charging. Not sure if he's still around, though - he relo'd his shop a few years back and I've not been able to contact him since. I'll try to find his name for ya.
