Replaced injectors, slightly rough idle
So I've been going down the standard path of N54 trouble shooting for the past few months. Here is whats happened, what I've done, and where I'm at:
Mods list: VRSF CP and tial BOV, DCI, 5" stepped FMIC, MHD Stage 1+ December 2015: - experienced long cranks, got HPFP replaced - misfires after new HPFP installed, went back to Stage 1 MHD and misfires went away. Jan 2016: - replaced plugs and coils, went back to MHD stage 1+, everything OK Feb 2016: - long cranks came back, different symptoms after the car started. I figured possible leaky injector due to instability and very light misfires. After car warmed up it was just fine. March 2016: - car really starting to bog down at start, checked injectors, found 2 leaking. - replaced all injectors with index12, recoded, etc. Ever since I've replaced the injectors, the car fires up at start instantly with no bog, exhaust is way way less sooty. The car idles slightly rough, the needle moves a little bit at idle moving around 25-50 rpm (600-650 rpm - its very slight movement). Under acceleration the car is running just fine, the rougher idle is bugging me. Anyone have any ideas? Should I do an adaptation reset after injectors? Thanks! |

Pull your plugs and inspect. Only other thing you haven't mentioned is if you had an intake valve cleaning because that would be a huge culprit to idle problems. They should be cleaned around every 35K miles. |

I haven't done intake valve cleaning yet (@51k miles). That's next on my list, the only reason I was concerned is that the idle change didn't exist before the injector replacement. I'll check plugs and get a intake valve cleaning up next! thanks

Only other thing that can affect idle that commonly fails at your mileage is the valve cover gasket or the valve cover itself is cracked. |

I kept checking O'rielly and rock auto for 2 months but they were never in stock in any volume. I ended up getting them from ECS as the car was really getting hard to start due to the fuel leaking.
edit: ~1500 for the kit on ECS, it was not cheap Last edited by Anend_E90; 04-14-2016 at 12:44 PM.. |
