Should I be concerned ?
Morning All.. Started the 335i this morning and noticed a rattling sound coming from the engine on start-up. Note the start-up was from cold. Wasn't sure if this is normal or whether it points to something like the wastegate rattle issue ?
Would appreciate some advice. The first Video (hopefully the link works!) - is when I started the car from cold and instantly took the video. Video 1 The second video is when I pulled it out of the garage after about 3 mins or so, still idling. Video 2

Is the noise in the second video coming from the passenger side?
If so, I believe it is a fuel venting solenoid, (not sure on the exact name) and is a common problem on the N54. It is located somewhere under the inlet manifold. There are a lot of videos on YouTube of the same noise. I also have this noise occasionally, sometimes it does it, sometimes not. Many people say it's a noisy injector, but the injectors are on the other side (off side) of the engine. |

That second video sounds like a rapid firing gas hob igniter!
Mine had weird noises when I got it, seems to depend on temperature, day of the month, what I had for breakfast. Keep an eye on it, if it doesn't go away when the weather warms up, maybe sometime in September at this rate then i'd be a bit more worried. |

Normal - Injectors make a clicking noise at idle, second video is showing the fuel pump.
If the car runs fine and is hitting boost targets then there isnt a problem. Dont go looking for a problem which doesn't exist!
