Same tire size front and rear?

Good day, I just a bought an '06 E90 330I W/ sport pkg. The RFTs that are on the car are the same size (255 35 R18 90W) Rear and Front. Are there any issues I may have? Performance or safety wise?

That's weird- it should have been 225 in the front but I don't think it will cause any issues.

Definitely wrong. Are the rims the same? You can typically tell the rears are slightly wider by looking at them, but if they are the right rims and wrong tires, that may affect the RFT wear.

Also, having the wider fronts, if they don't run anything, will presumably affect the handling character of the car. I'm not sure it will be a negative or positive change, that depends on whether you're looking for under or oversteer.

are you sure you dont have 255's on one side and 225s on the other??

OE front rims are too narrow for a 255. heck OE rear rims are barely wide enough for 255s

I checked to see that all 4 tires are the same size. I will have to measure the wheels. I am not overly concerned, but would like to know for sure what the heck is going on.

It will help to dial out some of the build in understeering.
Just eye ball the wheel and tire fitment and compare with the rear, to see if you have the same wheel for front and rear.
A number of members on the forum are running the OEM rear wheel/tire for the front as well. At one time I was considering the same setup, but decided not to because the OEM wheels are too heavy for me.
But, anyway I don't see a problem with your setup, and the benefit is you can now rotate tires and wheels every few thousand miles for longer use.
If you don't like to have too big of a tires for the front, I would suggest you find someone with the new 135 and buy their rear tires for your front 245/35/18, I believe this is a better and more balance setup.

an 8" front rim is waaaay too narrow for a 255 tire. you're overstressing the sidewall with a tire that wide on a rim that narrow.

^^ agree, too narrow a rim for a 255. Just pop up the front, take the rim off and see what width its is. If its an 8" wide rim and you have 255 then go back to where-ever you bought the car and get them to put the right tyres on.

Thanks for the input guys. I had my passenger seat air bag mat sensor replaced, and I talked to the tire guy at the dealership. He felt it will not be an issue with the tire life or safety. Only issues if they rub.

If you read my post carefully I ask him to eyeball and compare the front and rear, he might have 8.5 inches wheel for the front as well.

I did measure the wheels earlier. Just basic tape measure from outside to outside of the rim through the gap. I got a deffinate difference. 9.5" rear, 9.0" front. I'm guessing the normal 8.5/8.0 measurement is from some dimension inside the rim where tire seets. As long as they don't fall off, I will just go with it until I need new tires. These have lots of tread left.

I thought the staggered setup (wider in rear) did that....
