325 E90 with Arma Supercharger - installed with intial review
hey guys,
I have been off this forum for a bit since i have been busy playing around with a 911T 6MT that was shipped to Beijing about half a year ago. Recently, I have decided that my 325i 6mt (N52b25) daily driver is a bit of a bore especially with the ac on in summer days. Unfortunately research shows that not many SC kits for this engine. (Perhaps due to the lightweight magalum block?) There is only one manufacturer that is based on taiwan called Arma. Having no better choice, I decided to go with it since I never had a chance to play with a sc'ed car. The kit was shipped here direct from Taiwan. Out of the package, Arma seems to have done their R&D quite well. The sc, intercooler, piping, etc.. were molded nicely and installed without issues into the car. Upon starting the car, the sc sounds lovely. The beautiful whine makes the entire car come alive. I took it for a test drive but was told that the car is in break in period and would not show significant results until after 500km. I was also told not to go past 4k rpm until after breakin. Also, I was told that my eisenmann race exhaust is not high flow enough for their system and recommends that I use their specially designed exhaust. Is there any sc experts that can help me with this logic? Initial response feels that the car is quite slower than my previous setup. The car seems to peak at 100km at around 4k rpm. I think that my car may be in limp mode as obd shows that there are lambda (afr) errors. Arma will send me an ecu bypass and hopefully we will be on track again. Will keep you guys updated. Also any techinical advice on the sc setup will be appreciated. Sorry will get more pics posted as i am now in the office. here is a link to a video clip of car http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjgyMDEzNTcy.html Last edited by ZShift; 07-14-2011 at 09:31 PM.. for now, the obd diagnostics shows an air fuel ratio error. arma says they will send a chip to clear it up... the yellow engine light came on as well. not sure exactly what that means though for the error? anybody care to help out? fuel economy is riduculously low... 20 liters per 100km. hopefully all this will be fixed up.

Engine errors can be cleared and computer learning can be reprogrammed if you know what you are doing, too bad I am no longer in Asia or else it would be interesting to visit Beijing and see your setup. I could have helped with some of the diagnostics on the car.
But I'm sure ARMA will slowly fix it, it's giving you errors cause their piggy back tune is not 100% completely integrated and in sync with the MSV70 ecu. |

If not, then it could be a marketing scheme. The supercharger and longevity of the engine will not be affected by a more restricted exhaust. The increase in performance is probably what their hinting at, in which case the eisenmann will be sufficient, I have no doubt. Congrats on the system. Could you take a startup video from outside the car? I would like to hear the system on startup. Hope you enjoy it |

If there giving a refund guarantee, then I guess they're confident in the system. More power for you Anyways, when you get the chance, I really would like to see the startup video if you can. Thanks man |

Hi ******,
Have you consider supercharger from a company called YJK? They are Rotrex base charger and also claim a similar gain in performance. link for reference: http://www.yjkcar.com/chinese/ZZ.asp
