Question for Maryland drivers.

Hey, my dad commutes to MD, and he just got a ticket in the mail for speeding. (46 in a 35). Apparently there are now radar cars that just drive around and take pictures of speeders w/ radar readout? Is that really the case? I'm just in pure disbelief as this is nothing more than driver tax. You don't even get a safety lecture by a police officer, you never get pulled over, etc. Traffic safety is a lot about having police presense, and this is just a $40ticket that has so many disclaimers about prepaying the fine that you'd think it's a timeshare ad.

It is not a radar car but radar cameras. To me $40 is not that bad. If you got a ticket in VA you would be paying at least double that or more.

its only in Montgomery County and still better than speeding in VA. besides, those with idrive can download the cameras into nav and/or use a radar detector

just go to your favorite torrent site, and search for a bmw navigation DVD with red light/speed cameras inserted as POIs. Most of the discs just remove some of the POIs you would never use...
