OP, check your local dealership's website for coupons or specials. I see these oil change coupons pop up frequently for my local dealership for around $90-110.

I usually borrow my neighbor's Hazard Fraught jack. As with anything HF, you can't beat the value but god does it blow. The roller on the front seizes up if you breathe on it the wrong way and it has a tendency to drag your car as a result. Pay careful attention to make sure you don't accidentally tip over a jack stand or something.

OP, because you took your car to Midas to determine what the service indicator was trying to tell you, I'll assume you have no interest in doing DIYs on your car. So please take my advice, I've owned BMWs for over 25 years and do almost all of my own maintenance and repairs; do not let anyone other than a trained BMW technician work on your car. Try to find a good and trustworthy BMW Independent repair shop, or at least an independent German car service shop to work on you BMW. Places like Midas will just totally fuck up your car.
That said, most BMW dealers offer the $80 oil change service that BMW recently started advertising. Now be careful here too, because BMW is offering the $80 oil service to get you into the shop to sell you other services your car may not need. As others have already said, the car has a built in conditioned based service (CBS) maintenance system that indicates when service is due. Please read the owners manuals (it can be found on line if you are missing the paper copy that comes with the car in the trunk) to better understand the service requirements of the vehicle. But bottom line NEVER, EVER, TAKE YOUR BMW TO A NON-CERTIFIED BMW REPAIR FACLITY. Midas, Jiffy Lube, Sears, etc., are all places to AVOID taking a BMW to for service. |
