Hey Fravel, what up??

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I am planning to change my tranny fluid soon with a buddy of mine who is a BMW tech. I am at 115k miles have been noticing rough shifting even at warm temps. So is your shifting has been smoother since you changed the fluid?

I am also planning to go with OEM fluid. Thanks
Yup, shifting is better all-around (I drive in manual mode 100% of the time.) except for shifting into reverse after scold start. Thats always been kind of jerky though.

I'm in a 330i with the ZF tranny though, so YMMV.

Did you do this yourself or you took it to a shop?

After a fluid flush you guys might want to look into resetting the tranny adaptation. I want to the flush with the differential flush as well. I will try to post my exerience after.

I sourced the transmission pan and fluid myself, then went to a local Indy to have the work done. He charged me 2 hrs labor to change transmission and differential fluid.

I'm typically a DIY guy, but I don't have a fluid transfer pump or a good means of getting the car far enough off the ground to have the amount of space I would've wanted to perform the task myself.

guys I found a nice video from ZF manufacturer. Its pretty informative for someone who is planning to change the fluid. Please note: This will only apply to ZF transmissions.

AMSOIL

I would get a 10 qt jug of AMSOIL for about $85.00 and the filter on Amazon for $100.00.

Also watch a few DIY video's on YouTube prior to changing.

Lifetime really means 100k.

After that, I would change it every 50k for the engine will need more TLC after 100k if plan on trying to get 200-250k out of the car.

Yes, you should do the megatronic sleeve when your up there. Or you will be redoing it soon anyhow, These bad boys wont go past 100k count on it. BMW's are notorious for this going bad. The parts are not that expensive. Hardest part is getting to it. Not a lot of space.

Thanks for the info, but I am planning to buy the Castrol 06814 Transmax Import Multi-Vehicle Automatic Transmission Fluid. Cost for 8qts will come out to be $45.00 dlls? I have a ZF tranny. I got the filter-pan for $58.00 new.
