Techron

I have about 67k on the clock and am stock and I was having some slight stumbling at cold start up and when accelerating and decided to use the techron additive that was on sale for $19 per six pack at Costco. I added it to a full tank and it has fixed the stumbling at cold start and slight misfiring while accelerating. Not a bad price for the results.

I have to do this still, plan on dumping a bottle in on my next fill-up.

My idle likes to float around a little bit at first as well.

Techron is awesome and will fix many fuel system problems for many many cars. The only downer is that for our direct injection vehicle, it doesn't clean out the valves. However, it should do a fantastic job at cleaning everything else (fuel lines, pumps, injectors etc).

Make sure you get the Techron Concentrate Plus Fuel System Cleaner on the Left and not the one on the right:

I believe Costco sells the Techron Progard injector cleaner and not the concentrate plus. Yes it will work and is cheaper, but doesn't give your car the best clean. They are two totally different formulas. You can check out Chevron/Techron's website and see. Most walmarts should carry the Techron Concentrate Plus and still very cheap. Or there are tons of good deals on amazon.

Side note for the 335i out there, putting this in doesnt help with idling issues, and if you havent done it already, you should look into getting a intake valve cleaning done (using walnut shell blasting). search on the forum to see why if you dont know =D

xD i know this stuff works because it cured some of my other older cars problems. (stuck fuel level gauge, injection/idling problems, cleaner valves etc.) But letting you make more power and spooling faster is a bit over the top...

In fact, using techron should make you lose power over the course of that tank of gas because you've basically just diluted the fuel with a cleaning additive haha. unless your fuel system is extremely gummed up and the techron cleaned/ unclogged the whole thing. Keep in mind, this is a FUEL system cleaner, not an engine additive and should not really make turbos spool faster? ;D

Glad you like it tho! i love techron and i run a bottle through everytime before i do an oil change.

lol, I was just joking

did throw some in this weekend tho, they were 2-for-1 at AutoZone so I picked a couple up

actually, I put it into a basically empty tank then filled up with Chevron 91, so my car got a solid dose of vitamins I guess!

With known injector issues, throwing some cleaner thru there every now and then is cheap insurance imo

and actually, you might get a little power

engine cleaner is basically the same formulation as "octane boost", so if you were to run map 5 or something you may get a slight advance in timing and a couple more hp out of a slighter higher fuel rating

If you're in BC, some Chevron Gas Station still carries them (even though not a lot anymore). I head to the States and pick up a dozen, That'll last my family for a year and a bit more (have 5 cars).

Alternatively, go visit amazon or ebay they sometime have great deals too. Good Luck!

No placebo? Did you do a double blind study on your car? Thats the only way to credibly determine you dont have a placebo affect.

In-tank injector cleaners are basically a marketing elixir. Their "performance results" depend on testimonials , much like you are reading here on these posts, anecdotal and the lowest form of actual evidence for proof that something works.

They dissolve gum deposits, which will may again settle in the injector lines, pintle caps and valves. Sometimes, benign (harmless) deposits are dislodged/jostled, and allowed to travel where'll they'll do the most harm- in the injectors themselves.

Stop wasting your $$ on snake oil. Clean your injectors by removing them, and having them ultrasound cleaned.

If that is true, then the additives that the EPA requires in gasoline, and the Top Tier people require at higher levels, are also "snake oil". Sorry, but they're required by EPA to keep the injectors (at least somewhat) clean, so your assertion falls apart.
