NGK plugs vs OEM?

Its time to change my plugs as im about to be installing my jb4 and I want to get the plugs out of the way. I saw BMS had the oem plugs for cheap, but when I went to purchase them... they are out of stock. They do have the NGK iridium plugs where you have to gap them yourself.

I was wondering have any of you guys had any experience with the NGk plugs? How do they compare to the oem? Any input would be appreciated.

Honestly don't think there is much difference. I purchased Bosch ones and they work fine. No difference. In fact, it made my car idle and power delivery a tiny little bit better (because i was overdue for my plugs, changed it when it was at around 55k miles instead of 45k).

BMW uses NGK and Bosch to make their spark plugs. So in the end you are just paying for some fancy blue lettering that says BMW. In fact majority of the so called OEM products in BMWs are actually made by Bosch and Siemens. For example you can get as set of Bosch ignition coils for $220-$240 for 6. Meanwhile BMW charges like $50 or more a piece for their "OEM" ignition coils. And guess what? They are the exact same freaking thing. Only thing BMW will do is repack the Bosch coils into a BMW box and slap on and extra $20.

I'd swear by NGK. Always used them. One of the best plugs you can buy IMHO.

Yes on all my dirt bikes and snowmobiles I used NGK, I always had a good experience with them. Just wondered if anyone had experience with them in the N54.I think im going to pull the plug on the NGK mainly because I don't want to wait for the bosch and there the same thing pretty much.

Also I know what you guys are talking about how BMW repacks bosch stuff. Ive noticed that myself

I have NGK on a 330i, just work. The OE Bosh were working just as well, so whatever is handy.

I used the NGK gapped them myself and installed them myself. Idle seems a bit more firm at 600rpm and starts are a little quicker other than that don't see a difference, but hey I got it done.

My Bosch didn't make it up to 100K as planned by BMW. 2 caused misfires.

I replaced all of them with NGK 5987 @ 75K miles. Should have been done at 60K.

Any real good scientific datapoint there comparing Bosch to NGK, especially in a tuned N54?
