oil level never changes???

My oil level stays near max all of the time. This has been after two trips to the dragstrip, 8 runs, and countless spirited drives. My oil level on my dash remains the same and never changes. Is there a way I can actually check? Shouldn't the oil be a little lower?

Many say burning oil is inherent to bmw's, but my two burn none whatsoever. The level is the same from when I fill to when it gets drained.

I've never seen my oil level change on my I6 engine. Now, people with the V8, that's a different story!

I would feel real good about that.

I would feel real good about that.
My e46 never burned a noticeable amount after
break in but I did changed it every 5k.
70k miles on it and it was still tight.
I see some change in about of year of driving
on the e91 but not much.
Well you could dump it out and measure it.
Damm I hate not having a dip stick.
Next time just fill it to the point its one segment under
full on the graph. (What a pintha)

Mine stopped losing oil completely once I sealed up my VCG.

My oil level stayed at Max for about 2 years until recently a VCG and OFH leak caused the level to drop. Since getting those leaks fixed, the level has stayed at Max and has not budged.

My E46 on the other hand would burn a half quart every 2000 km or so.

Be happy you car does not burn oil

My oil level changes very little in 7500 miles of driving.

Ive gone through approx. 8-10 oil changes with my car (~7k mile intervals)... Ive only had to "top off" with a quart twice... And my oil filter housing had a leak at the time
