I'm also curious how one thinks caliper covers would prevent dust as well..

They don't prevent dust, just act as a shield to reduce the amount that gets onto the face of the wheels.

No they won't.

Dust isn't going to move out laterally from under the pad. The rotation of the rotor carries the dust from under the pad and then spits it out circumferentially towards the inner portion of the rim. Bernoulli's principle (high pressure in the wheel well and interior wheel area, low pressure in the outer face of the wheel) moves the brake dust to the face of the rim.

Yeah, right, one thin flimsy aluminum plate with act as heat sink to cast iron calipers, just ridiculous.
