The disks just got clean with use (see the first set of pics). The rust disappeared after a few thousand miles. Mine was an ex-BMW management car, so god knows where it had bene parked/stored. The rust was that apparent after only 4500 miles.

UPDATE!

I am disgusted! I just came off the phone with Cooper Tunbridge Wells and they said that the 'good will plea' they made to BMW has been successful, BMW will supply the parts.

BUT... Cooper Tunbridge Wells want £350 + VAT to fit them! and they will not send me the parts so I cant fit them myself!

This is disgusting, 6 weeks ago I spent over 40k on a brand new car and now I am going to have to pay £350 + VAT to get rid of RUST!!!!

I am going to fight this as it is not good enough!!!

I'm a bit surprised considering how many cars you have bought from them.
Why won't they let you fit them?! Perhaps it is a safety thing.
I presume they are arguing it is cosmetic.
2 options:
i) Fight it
ii) Save yourself the hassle and do yourself following methods discussed previously.

I too am disgusted with the service I have received from BMW since owning my E90. I am delighted with the product but the customer service is abysmal. My Mum gets better service from VW with her Polo!

Its been so bad, I'm seriously considering spending my hard earned cash with another German manufacturer who treats their customers with the respect and service they deserve...

Bosch?

When I bought the E92 and was after the chrome tailpipes, the salesguy admitted their parts department were pretty crap when they couldn't find the correct part no. When i said I could get them from another dealer, he thought that was the best option!

I hope it doesn't begin with an M because from what I've heard they're just as bad.

The product is good, the sales guys are great until you've bought, but aftersales seems to be that way..... You are just a number, until BMW find it tough to sell cars before the first one is even off the line and make shed loads of money it won't change.

I threatened BMW customer service with not buying another BMW when they wouldn't help with a problem with my A C Schnitzer wheels but they know i) It is a hollow promise and ii) What difference is one unhappy customer going to make.

I too have heard MB are just as bad. I enquired (in a moment of madness a few years ago) about an SLK, but it was almost as if the dealer didn't want to sell me one and were completely uninterested :-( ... although my cousins husband bought a C class from the same dealer and is happy enough with it (despite the C class not having a handbrake but a stupid foot operated parking brake instead, and the car is a manual!!!!).

Audi or Porsche for me... Unless BMW buck up their ideas....
Mercs are for grandads. Okay so I wear slippers whilst driving, but they're comfy...

New Merc C Class sport looks nice. Or maybe the new A5 ?

I bet you'd find exactly the same thing. Porsche maybe different but are Audi?

I've heard exceptional customer service from Audi, will have to do more research on Porsche though...

Yeah, I like the A5, but need to test it to see if its a drivers car and whether it handles well. I don't buy just for looks its got to perform as well...

Unlikely to be an Audi for me. The Glasgow Audi Centre doesn't get particularly good vibes from a lot of the posts on one of the main TT forums for sales, servicing, parts....

The Glasgow Porsche Centre on the other hand seemed more than helpful/willing to take £50K off me for a new Cayman howver when I enquired previously

The reason you cannot fit them (even if you were qualified) BMW UK would not be able to quantify to BMW AG that one of their franchises (BMW UK) has fitted it correctly.

It sounds daft I know - I work for a German company, and I get so see many strange terms attached to their warranties and they are there to protect the business from rogue claims that could arise.

With regards to customer service - without being classified as being racist. I have noted my years in a German company have shown me the attitude I end up being faced with when telling a colleague in Germany about a product fault. They tend to refuse to acknowledge the fact that there is a fault and they blame user error. Unless we can prove the fault and is repeatable they do not wish to know.

The same ethos tends to follow in the UK as the brand sells itself!

ALSO, I was thinking of this thread as I saw yet another E90, very new, with rusty hubs on it this morning.....

If they DID fit the parts and you DID pay the 350 quid - what is to stop them doing the same thing in three months?

Unless these are parts which Don'T rust....in which case surely there's an argument that the current parts are faulty as they have parts available to 'fix' the problem !!!

I betcha they'd do the same thing in 3 months... I'd do the wheels yourself and then you don't have to worry.

This suggests the dealer is being completely unreasonable. BMW have admitted themselves that the wheels shouldn't be the way that they are, i.e. rusty, and have agreed to supply replacement parts. The dealer is trying it on for a quick profit. Reason with the dealer or contact BMW Customer Services for help. The dealer must have a contact at BMW - ask them to tell you who it is and speak to them directly. Keep us updated.

BMW say that they dont see it as a fault... a bit of a contradiction considering they are offering to replace the parts (which in their books has nothing wrong with it)

My dealership said to me "but if these rust you'll just keep coming back every 5 weeks" o which i responded somthing along the lines of... "well thats not my problem is it! correct the fault and I wont keep coming back!"

I then said that I would proberly paint them to stop this happening again to which they said "if your going to paint them anyway why cant you just do that to the ones you've got already"

This was driving me mad, I did not spend all this money on a car to have to paint the F ing brakes to stop them rusting!!!!

Im going to phone up my dealer now and keep on top of this... will let you know how I get on...

Has anyone else had similar problems?
