Sidemarker not flush with fender
I recently ordered the E90 smoked LED sidemarkers from Bimmian. Great looking product, but when I snapped them in, they did not fit 100%. When viewing them from the top, they are not flush with the fender. There is a slit that I can almost place a dime into (depth wise).
Although the slit is rather small and cannot be seen standing a few feet away from the vehicle, water will inevitably seep through. I called Bimmian about this and they indicated that the sidemarker is completely waterproof, and to just wrap some electrical tape around the part that connects with the car's wiring. This sounds reasonable to me, but the problem is, what happens to that water when it seeps through the sidemarker hole and goes down inside the front panel? Is there a place for it to drain out? I looked underneath the car and it didn't appear so. I'm wondering if the water will eventually collect down there.. Any insight? I apologize at this post's length For reference, I am talking about an E90 sedan, and the installation of this product: http://www.**********s.com/product.a...ker_e46_e53_JY |

Send it back and try again with another one... sounds like only one of the two doesn't worrk. Sadly, this is par for the course on Bimmian products.
If the next one is the same way, figure out where there is interference, and take a razor blade or exacto-knife and CAREFULLY shave the offending portion of the sidemarker (assuming the offending portion is plastic). I say CAREFULLY because I'm more concerned you'll cut your finger off, not that you will significantly damage the sidemarker... |

Thank you for the reply. No, the problem is in fact identical with both pieces.. The topside slits in question are very similar. The actual pieces look fine... Which leads me to believe that it is a fitment issue. I called Bimmian and they said they had not had a fitment issue with them... |

They are full of shit, but also not lying... "they" haven't had any fitment issues because once it ships it isn't their problem... "they" aren't the ones with the car the piece has to go onto.
If you are set on making them work, I'd try shaving some of the plastic where there is interference. |

Ok, thanks for the replies everyone. Does anyone have anything to add about the water issue that I might be facing inside my side fender if it seeps through during rain?

Did you send them back to have them replaced? It's rare but some bulbs will burn out unexpectedly- that's why there are warranties for them. Hopefully you sent them back and got replacements.
