Question First time BMW buyer looking at a 330i - advice please

I've been a lurker for a while, but this is my first major post. My thanks to the forum for such a great resource.

I'm in the market to buy a 330i in central florida configured as follows:

Alpine White
6MT
Black Leather / Aluminum Trim
Sport Package
Luxury Package
Nav w/ iDrive
Satellite Radio
Fold down split seats

As configured, the MSRP according to BMWUSA is $44,165. I have a few questions.

1. I know the 335i coupe is coming out. Will there be a 335i sedan in the near future? Do we know what the base price will be?

2. How much above invoice are people paying these days? Will I have any luck offering $500 above invoice (accounting for invoice price of options)?

3. Can I get the sport package with all season tires rather than performance?

4. How much firmer is the ride with the sport package than without?

5. Are the side bolsters in the sport seats adjustable?

4. If I order a car as I want it, what's the typical wait time for delivery?

Thanks in advance.

the 330i's a great car, and sounds perfect with the equipment you listed.

1. Yes the 335 sedan is coming out. Not sure of the base price, but assuming it'll jump a grand or two over the 330i.

2. $500 over invoice is perfectly reasonable considering the 335i sedan is on it's way.

3. No (I don't think), the sport package only comes with performance tires.

4. Not sure... never driven a BMW without the sport package.

5. Yes they are; and that and the extendable thigh support make these seats the best out there.

4(but I know you meant 6). I don't believe they're taking any more orders for 330i sedans. If you place an order, it'll have to be for either a 328i or 335i. I'd ask your dealer to search for one equipped close to what you're looking for.

'07 328i/335i Sedan pricing available here: http://e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25892

'07 Sedans begin production in September, delivery in October, based on your dealer's allocations. Obviously the sooner you get an order in, the sooner your delivery will be (ie. October versus the months after). As for 330i orders, you may be out of luck unless your dealer can still squeeze an order in if they have remaining allocations... but there'll come a date - if it hasn't already - where the only thing you'll be able to order is the new '07s.

Check out the "sticky" threads at the top of the forums for various info. The order guide can give you an idea of the wait on new orders.

went thru the same thing you did.

hey, i went throught the same thing you did and decided to go with the 330i. ordered it on july 29th and it is on the manon, halfway across the atlantic right now. i'm expecting to pick it up the 1st or 2nd week of september.

there is a 328 and 335 SEDAN coming out. the only definite is that the 328 is set for october production, november delivery. no guarantees on the 335 sedan though.

the 328 will have 230hp and the 335 will have 300hp with 300ft/lbs torque. i opted for the 2006 330i with it's 255hp which should be plenty for me. thought about waiting for the 335, but it may take longer than november to come out and the dealer told me the base is gonna be bumped up by $2500. so, instead of waiting i got the 330i fully-loaded cuz i'm dying to get rid of my '91 acura integra! plus, i got a good deal since i knew that a new model was coming out soon.

if you're a big ipod person, i'd recommend the i-drive nav system cuz there's a interface available now that fully integrates the ipod into the nav screen and steering wheel controls.

one last thing, when i placed my order at the end of july, i think that was the last day that my dealer was taking orders on the 330s. on the plus side, i changed my color after they had put an order into the computer and they kept that also... i know cuz my dealer gave me that vin#, so maybe they will order a few extra cars to cover the transition interval. who knows? good luck.

Thanks for your replies. It turns out I missed the window on ordering the 330i. It looks like it'll have to be the 335i or nothing.

Since I'm already waiting, when can I expect prices to start to come down? I have been reading the E92 coupe pricing sticky and I had a similar experience today. Dealt with someone at Fields BMW in Winter Park, FL and he flat out told me they're not willing to come off of MSRP.

I have 21 BMW dealers within 250 miles of me. When will (and what are the odds) I will be able to find a 335i sedan at Invoice +$500 to $1000? I wasn't in the market to buy the 330i when it came out initially...so I don't know when dealers moved off of MSRP for it.

Thanks again, guys. This forum is one heck of a resource and I greatly appreciate the help.
