New LCI based BMW Alpina B3 S Bi-Turbo with 400 Ponies Available for Order in the UK

Quote:
Following its recent world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the new BMW 335i-based Alpina B3 S Bi-Turbo is now available for order in the UK with first deliveries to start in July.

Offered in four-door saloon, Touring, Coupe and hardtop Convertible forms, the new B3 S comes with a modified 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight six upgraded to deliver a hefty 400HP at 6,000 rpm and 540Nm or 398.3 lb-ft of peak torque.

The 0-62mph (100km/h) sprint takes 4.7 seconds for both the saloon and coupe models which are also capable of achieving a top speed of 186mph or 300km/.

Alpina's take on the 335i range is identified on the outside by a redesigned front spoiler, a new rear diffuser which encloses the tailpipes and a different set of alloy wheels. The BMWs interiors are upgraded with a new steering wheel and modified instruments while Alpina also offers various lather trim options.

I too am no fan of the Alpina styling, it looks like every other aftermarket tuner who just sticks random things on...

If however, I could get a E92 LCI with the M-Sport pack but with that engine, I'd be a very happy puppy indeed!

pretty sure this is the best 3 you can buy, because it's got a more driveable engine for every day than M3, more reliable than 335i (with the HPFP and all) - Alpina triple checks BMW mass market stuff and improves as much as they can with BMWs approval, and more comfortable as well. Only downsides it's very expensive brand new, it depreciates a lot and used market usually is Germany which means lots of bizarre combos that usually are tasteless. In blue or silver, with Original rims, and black interior with non poo coloured wood (ie. piano black) it will be a super classy car. really digging the exhaust tips treatment on the 92-3 cars!

I heard the value drops big time on those very quickly, such as a B7. I agree, I think the one I drove had 21" rims that cost $4000 each according to one of the car mags? And to think they don't even look good? On the B3 they're 18x8 and 18x9, 245/265, nothing special.

Also, maybe in the UK they want that gaudy look of all the emblems, who knows, it doesn't look good here in the States.

Interesting the engine is managed by a MSD81. They're an authorized tuner, right? What does Dinan think about it?

Just looked it up, they are no where near that expensive.

IMO, that's nonsense. Do you drive an M3 daily to make that statement?

"However, within an hour of the B7's arrival, one of our connoisseurs punctured one of the ultra-low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. It cost us $500. Phew, good thing he didn't damage one of the zoomy wheels—they're $4200 each! A telltale ring of grime in the trunk was a sign that we weren't the first to use the beautiful 18-inch matching spare in our B7's brief, 1700-mile life."

Do you drive both to compare? Look I don't know, if you go by what most magazines say, Alpina makes much more sense for every day than either of the above. M3 has awful consumption and CO2. May be that's nothing in US where you don't have any real tax on petrol but it's a big deal in europe. 335 is same car but with not that good suspension/gearbox combo. So I'm not sure what is nonsense. B3 makes sense to me, except for ridiculous price tag.. If you don't like the styling, guess what, you don't have to order it. You can just go with internal mods.

It seems to me in the US few have a clue what Alpina actually is, and assume this is a chip with body kit, but in fact it's a helluva lot more that that and guys in Buchloe work with BMWs approval. Dinan has nothing on them.

Why is everyone always so negative? It gets tiresome after a while.
Anyway, to me, this car is pure sex. Love it!

He either made a mistake, didn't know what he was talking about, or someone got ripped off hardcore.

They are around for $1300 per rim, and that's the 21x10.5" ones:
