Picked up a 335d over the weekend

I flew out Saturday morning from Phoenix to Amarillo, TX to pick up a 2011 335d from a private seller I found on AutoTrader. It's Space Gray on black leather, 31k miles, has every single available option (MSRP was $57k) including M-sport package, and a hardwired radar K40 detector.

I spent the last two days driving back to Phoenix through southern NM (Roswell) and AZ. Man, that's a boring drive, with the exception of two 5-mile twisty stretches in AZ where I was able to really let the car loose. What a machine! The torque is seriously addictive. I actually hadn't driven one of these in about 5 years since I test drove a 2009, but now I get to drive one everyday - that is neat.

This is my fifth BMW, having previously owned (in this order) an E34 525i, E36 M3, E34 M5, and E46 330i ZHP. This car actually reminds me a lot of the E34 M5, but with about triple the fuel efficiency.

Plans are to install a catch can, Wagner IC, and ESS tune, and that's about it.

Congrats on your 335d purchase! Also, welcome to the forum. Yes, the torque IS seriously addictive! With this car, it's so easy to find yourself at triple-digit speeds. Good thing you have a radar detector! So far, I'm really enjoying my 335d and I look forward to driving it every chance I get. I'm averaging about 35mpg mostly highway driving. Enjoy!

Our cars are nearly twin sisters. Mine has gray interior and $57.1k sticker. Only option mine didn't have was Harmon Kardon stereo. I still have the chrome kidney grills though. Welcome

Willkommen! All I can recommend is to ditch the RFTs if you have them on.

If there's 31k miles, he either just got new tires or it needs them. As many here have, I installed Michelin PSS at 23k miles and have really enjoyed them.

Previous owner already took care of that - he threw Goodyear Eagle F1s on there, which are decent if not awesome.

Nice! It was a little spooky - the guy I bought the car from had also sold a VW GTI to get the 335d, and had also owned several of the same BMWs. He's looking at a red 330i ZHP in Phoenix that actually might be the one I owned previously. Small world...

LOL, mine is the same grey M-tech but with black interior. No upgraded stereo for me either. No active steering (if that ever came on the D) and no active cruise control. But have the sunshades. My black grills are in the mail. Also, need to do something about that burl walnut trim

To the OP, welcome and congrats.

Looks familiar.....

SG....check
black interior....check
M-sport....check

The wheels are in the garage now. I replaced the RFTs and wheels at the same time. I found some used black BBS CHs for a great price.

I think Space Gray looks the best. Of course I'm biased. Haha

I'm jealous that so many of you folks can tint your fronts and do not have to have your front plate on. Not around my woods

Lol, already have tickets for no front plate... was forced to put it on and then made a cop walk in the poring rain to confirm it is on my car. He told me he trusts me, but I wanted a 100% confirmation he saw it.

Small world indeed. I'm in Phoenix for work and drove my personal car here, so yet another space gray 335d in the area.
I have nearly the same car, but not as similar as some of you guys.

The Wagner IC really isn't something too many would suggest. I would put that money toward a proper tune or a meth kit. Meth will add more power, clean up your carbon build up and add mpg (approximately 5-10%)

After installing my meth kit I realize how simple it really is. I suggest it to all diesel owners!
