I had two acceptable choices for overnight availability at Big O Tires in Evanston WY. The Nittos or Michelin AS3. I loved my PSS but am thinking about cutting back on the hard core usage and selling it for something more practical for my new location, lifestyle, and funds. Hence the Nittos for the next 20 months or 11k miles.

I had Motivos they are a good tire but both my fronts cracked and were replaced under warranty, this happened after about 3k miles on them, the new ones are ok so far....

I am sorry to hear about Jumping Jack's problem, but I must admit it made me chuckle after I learned he was OK.

If you track many cars with a factory alignment and drive hard, you will get the opposite effect. The outside shoulders can be corded in a day (my experience is primarily with Porsches)

That makes for an expensive day at the track.

Set your car up with a nice suspension and alignment like Jack's and you get awesome track performance and nice track tire wear...

But...

Stupid question. I am too lazy to go downstairs into my garage. Is there a donut spare in the trunk?

Haha, no donut spare in the trunk. We have run-flat tires so that BMW doesn't have to include a spare. But everyone ditches the run flats.

Dave, there is no donut spare in the trunk unless you bought one somewhere. As I did after I replaced the RFTs with the PSS. In retrospect, the best overall solution would be to have good RFTs AND a spare if you go into the wild Wild West much. Have to concur with your comment re stock setup and tracks. In the early days with my D when stock I spent a grand total of 1 hour on the Jefferson clockwise circuit and the outer rib was really wearing. I think it may be time to retire from being a track wannabe and go back to normal.

So, need to find a good Indy in Portland.

BTW, Big O did not acquit themselves well with being gentle with my previously pristine ARC-8 wheels. Nothing major mind you, but discouraging when they were unmarred.

I bring my own lug bolt socket with Teflon on it to protect the paint on my wheels. I will kill anyone who mars my rims with a metal lug tool...

Here's my tire for show & tell. I thought the dealer was supposed to check the tires for wear while overcharging me for preventative maintenance.

I am not sure where my head was. Of course I have no spare. I replaced the run flats. I knew that. I am a little out of sorts. I sold my Porsche and it has me in a real funk.

My SA told me I needed new tires. I priced them. Double what everyone else charges. And that was during a dealer "incentive" tire sale!

If it helps, before I bought the 335d sport, I looked at Boxster. It was $10,000 more for the Porsche that really didn't have the power, features, or real world acceleration that the BMW had, with perhaps about the same fuel economy.

I too am waiting for the day I can get my hands back on a proper Porsche....

Any 911, any year is proper, they never make a bad one, especially if it has turbos...

So you say. Even Excellence had an editorial that basically said Porsche has lost some of its charm. I doubt its just from the electronic driver aids and piped in music....er engine sounds... I've owned 3 Porsches and was a PCA member for a long time. I met some of the great NA gurus of the time.
