What's the point of doing clay on a brand new car?

Well, I guess the dealer wax/sealant are off from my car now, but I'd still wash it with meguiars gold class wash..

i figured i'd clay it lightly just to be sure the paint was clean. The clay did pick up a small amount of dirt/contaminants though. So it was worth it.

You would be surprised how much contaminants are stuck in the paint from the factory. These cars are usually left outside in the elements before they are sold. They really don't care about the paint finish as long as it is nice a shiny when you pick it up.

It sounds like we're dealing with pretty new cars here.

Personally, I really like this post: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41760, written up by picus, a respected detailer on this forum.

Yes, it has been some years and it deals with brand new cars, but just skip the parts where he talks about removing stickers and tape.

Enjoy!

I just used Mothers FX SynWax. The wax was actually designed for light colored cars, I was shocked from the results. Really made my silver and white cars pop, where as most the time they are still bland. I would suggest taking a look at it. I bought my paste on amazon.

Also for interior i find 303 Aerospace to work very well. Doesn't leave a residue and gives a very natural look to the interior

this weekend I hit some areas that had issues with swirl marks with Meg's DA Microfiber system, I was really amazed at the shine the finishing wax added to the car.

it is, 3-6 passes with cutting and 2-3 with finishing was enough to more or less remove all swirls on my alpine white, which as we all know has pretty hard clear.
