Are coilovers all I need for a drop?
I'm planning on getting coilovers soon for a drop since I have that terrible xi height plus 19''s which makes my car look lifted lol. But I've been hearing a lot about people with coilovers experiencing tire corrosion, I figured that's because they didn't get an alignment. But some people did get an alignment and wore straight through half their tires, others were telling them they need strut plates. Well I'm fairly new to this stuff but I know I want KW V1s so before getting them..is there anything else I would need to avoid ruining my tires that I just barely got? Besides the obvious alignment? Is it just plug and play sort of haha? Sorry if this is a repost but if it is and someone can direct me to the original post that'd be great. Thanks!

With a proper alignment and modest drop you wont run through tires any faster than stock. Im on 10k miles on my fronts and 29k on my rears. Fronts are at 80% left and rears are just now getting down to the wear indicators.

Okey great I just got worried some guy ruined his tires because of his drop, well mine isn't going to be dramatic maybe an 1-2 inches. So coilovers and alignment is all I need, right? thanks!

Good question. I personally got an alignment right after. My coilovers settled about 3/4" lower than I had it set so I simply raised the car back up a little.

Drive your car one or two days after the installation. They will settle lower. If you adjust height after you get an alignment, you will ruin your alignment. Don't get an alignment until your height is where you want it, and the new coils have settled.
