Completed my download yesterday and I've been seeding ever since. I'll leave it up for at least a week to help out.

Thanks for upload man!

I wanna help out. How do you "seed" it? Does it automatically do it?

I believe it does automatically start, at least with BitTorrent. After downloading is complete, the status goes from "downloading" to "seeding." You can stop and go the seeding anytime you like.

has anyone burned it successfully? if so, does anyone want to burn me a copy? I've already went through 4 DVDs and none would load on my nav system. Thanks

I'm also having problems burning. I've tried 2 different media on 2 different computers, 3 different drives, and 4 different programs.

I think my problem is my media but I burned the 2009 disc just fine on the same media.

Ok nervermind. The last DVD I burned worked. I switched to a DVD+R DL from a DVD-R. Both were Verbatim brand discs.

I was successful with freeisoburner....yes it's free. However, I burned at 2x and closing the disc took forever. I'm not sure how long but I took a good 2 hour nap and it was done.

I feel like a complete noob. So I downloaded "freeisoburner." What do I do next? I thought I burned it onto a disc, but only took 3 mins and I think I burned what was called "ISO image"

Am I supposed to unzip the file?

I believe you have to mount the iso image first, open that drive and burn the contents of that iso image, don't burn the actual iso image to a disc

1. Since my DVD-ROM is really picky, the only blank DVD that worked for me is the Memorex Lightscribe DVD+R that every Radioshack in my area carries. It comes in 10-DVD packs.

2. If you need an easy to use software to burn the .iso, I would recommend ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/). Extract the .zip file you downloaded, open ImgBurn and select "Write image file to disc", select the .iso under source and select the minimum speed as the write speed. ImgBurn will then start burning using the lowest speed it can.
Nevermind, I just followed this... I hope it works.

It's a myth that burning at a lower speed always produces a better burn. Some drives do best at the rated speed.

With my Plextor drive, for example, I have done multiple tests where I'd burn a disc at the lowest possible speed and then burned another disc at the recommended speed (which is usually the speed rating on the media). After burning, I scanned both discs for error counts and the number of errors on the disc that was burned more quickly was significantly less.

In some cases burning at a slower rate MAY be better, but it can actually be WORSE.

So i think I got it to work. I popped in the "East" DVD and it asked me to restart, which I did. And after I did, the map came back up like normal. Is there any way to tell that it worked? I used to have a "2007.2" disc, and the map on the 2011 looks exactly the same. What are the major updates that I will notice?
And my LAST and FINAL question, I have both the East and West disks, do I need to keep switching disks, or does it automatically load and save each disk?

Thanks for everyone who helped this NOOB out!

You have to unzip the file. Then open the .iso file in a burning program. The program should know what to do with it. Usually, you just press burn after the .iso loads up.

Don't have to mount it.

Well burning at 2x worked for me. I tried burning at 8x, 6x, and 4x...no luck.

There's no real way to tell. POI will be updated and some new roads are also added but that's about it.

The CIC never stores anything. It reads off the DVD discs. So yes you wold have to keep switching them.

Downloaded the West disc, unzipped, burned using ImgBurn at maximum speed on Sony DVD-R media.... works great!

BTW, there is a trick when you see the "shut down for 5 minutes" message. Just reset iDrive by pressing the mute and both eject buttons at the same time. It will reboot.

In some cases you may get better results. It's a myth that burning at a slower rate will always result in a superior burn. It may in fact be inferior. It is drive/media dependent.
