Getting Tints this week

Getting tints this week...decided to go with TNT Tint. Have an xi coupe. Expecting it to take 1-2 days and getting 35%. Have MD plates but live in VA.

The back window going to be a problem?

Driving in VA all the time going to be a problem? Never been pulled over in VA and I may just be asking for it now. Pls let me know your experiences.

35% is legal in both states.

Why do people say 'tints'? It's window tint, just one thing.

In VA you have to have 50% up front.

I have never been pulled over for tints in VA or MD. I run 35% all around.

1-2 days...? Is there some sort of new style of installing tint that happens to take an extra 23-47 hours?

just go with vinyl and you will be fine. I had mine done there few years back and no issues... I went to the Sterling location. Sorry, I had mine done at LA TINT in Sterling.

They must have to make the tint which is why it takes 1-2 days

I will definitely consider vinyl and discuss that option...although we initially agreed to do without vinyl over the phone.

I said 'tints' because it's common verbiage. Didn't even think into it that it's singular and I'm a big grammar person too...so thanks.

So as long as I keep my MD plates I shouldn't have an issue with 35% tint? Or will I get harassed because they'll pull over anyone with dark tint? Sounds like I would need to have VA plates to be bound by the 50% rule.

I know tint doesn't take long (few hours at most), but this is a 1 man shop so I just assumed I would get it back the next day, especially if he doesn't start my car till later in the day on the first day.

Don't 'consider' vinyl...there is NO other alternative if you're going to tint. It will look like ass if you don't, so save yourself the time and make him do it or find another place.

He obviously has never done an e92 before and I can bet he will say wait a few days for it to dry. It will still look like ass if you go this route and you'll be calling him to set up another appointment.

This is the truth. Don't trust them when they say they can handle it. I went through that situation myself and after bringing it back twice, I just had them cut the tint where the dot matrix was bc it looked so bad.

Thanks for the replies...I will get vinyl then. I didn't realize it's that bad without the vinyl!

He's done several 335 coupes and several other BMWs as well. Actually, he came highly recommended from this board. Looking forward to it, especially with summer right around the corner!

Doctors orders?

I may be able to get a note. Anyone gotten a doctors note after getting lasik?? They stress wearing sunglasses/seeing as little UV light as possible after the surgery.

I am in Maryland and got the Pinnacle 35% ceramic all around + vinyl strip for the top portion of rear window on my E92. I have black interior so it makes the tint look darker but I have not been cited for tint yet. are you going to the one in Sterling ? if so he usually has a helper. Just get there on time, I got there 30 minutes late due to weather and traffic. I gave extra $20 for lunch b\c I felt bad for pushing all appointments back 30 minutes. I took my car to LA TINT in Sterling , VA

Yup...listen to Paul. We both have coupes and it is the "best" way to go.

How does the vinyl strip work? Does the vinyl just cover the dot matrix and the tint meets where the vinyl ends or does the vinyl go on top of the tint? Who does this work?

If you are running out of state tags, I believe VA can't pull you over for window tint.
