They balance light weight with price pretty well. I'm not into Japanese wheel designs but if you are, and have alot of cash, that's another good light weight option. You can also go with Forgestars which will make you wheels with custom offsets if you can wait and have a good amount of cash. Any way you look at it, you're going to be limited to a 255mm tire in the front (without work) and those fit on 18x8.5's. And by the way, square is better for handling, as these cars have quite a bit of understeer from the factory.
Yeah square is what i was looking for!!! Now this might sound stupid but since the M-sport pack has 18x8.5 in the rear can i run the rear18x8.5s all the way around? and i am looking for a cheap way out lol i will spent a lot on tires and KW coilovers. 4 used M sport pack rear wheels shouldn't be that expensive.

Turbos? Haha thats a joke
The 08-09 are no different except the idrive, and the fact that m sport pack was an option on the 09.
The wastegates and turbos is all bull, the 09 have different wastegates, same wxact turbos. The waste gates on the 09 rattle just as much as the older ones, both years perform and function the same way.

If anything, the 07s are the best since they have forged engine internals. lol

N55's first year was 2011.... and why is everyone calling them Westgates and capitalizing it? It's WASTEgates, and it's just a common word, like "engine".

The 09 iDrive is significantly better. Even if you don't use the navigation function very often, it's worth it for the improvements to the rest of the infotainment interface.

As for LCI, I believe it was 09 for the E90, but the E92 and 93 definitely didn't get it until 2011.

Definitely get at least an 09. I wouldn't worry too much about the N55. Yes, the N54's components have had reliability issues (mostly the infamous HPFP, which seems to have at least improved with a recall even if it's not completely fixed, though at least it's got a 10-year warranty now), but the N55 is still pretty new so it's hard to say if it will be any more reliable. Other posters are correct that the N54 also offers more tuning options, but I'm not sure if that's important to you.

Otherwise, if money isn't an issue, the only reason you might want 2011 is for the style changes. I personally HATE the white angel eyes and was really glad that the 2011 M3 retained the halogens; looks more organic, like a beast, rather than a cyborg, and I find that the white angel eyes cause you to fixate on them and not notice the rest of the car's (awesome) styling. Also, the non-Sport bumper on the 2011 coupes has those stupid sword blade things, though Sport and M-Sport mercifully get rid of those.

Good luck!

Ya, I've test fitted my rear 162 on the front of my E90 Pre-Lci and it fits. However, I've heard from others that it will rub the fender liner at full lock. No biggie. They just aren't the lightest option.

The factory wheels are cast and strong but not light. Yes, the 162's are 18x8.5 in the rear. I think someone weighed them at 26.3lbs. I would not buy any non-branded wheel off Ebay. Go to the Wheel section in the vendor For Sale section or take the chance and go to the Private For Sale section and pick up some used wheels. You will be much happier with wheels that weren't copies of replicas of M6 wheels.

N54 is a great engine, youll want to keep it as long as its under warranty. Buy the newest one you can afford so you can keep it for a long time.

Keep it past warranty too...The great thing about parts that go bad often is when they go bad, they're cheap due to the masses buying them and driving down price.
