Wheel/tire advice

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a set of 19's, had some last year and ended up selling them because I didn't like the color, but this time around I would like to go a little more aggressive.

I have an E90 on Sport suspension, no plans of lowering, at least not yet.

19x8.5 ET15 fronts
19x9.5 ET20 rears

I think what I want is M3 offset, but the offsets I posted seem a little too extreme. I more or less am looking for the most aggressive setup I can run with just rolling the fenders, not wanting to do any major work or alterations.

The same wheels also come in +35/+33, respectively.

The rears will be nice & flush & can be pulled off with some fender work. The front offsets are a little too aggressive for the front of your car.

You'll have to run at least a 225/255 setup with some camber/fender work to pull those fitments off.

What offsets would you recommend then? I get so confused when people start throwing the term "M3 offset" around because I feel like no one is on the same page, some guys say they have it and only have to roll the fenders.

Again, I more or less am looking for the most aggressive setup I can run with a fender roll. How about the +35/+33 offsets? Aggressive or no?

+35/+33 is the recommended fitment for Non-M E9x. This would be a direct bolt-on fitment and will be flush on all 4 corners without the need of any fender work at sport height. Anything more aggressive will require some modifications or narrower tires.

I know 35/33 is what's recommended because that's what my last setup was, but I want something inbetween that and what requires fender work. I know there's got to be something in that gray area because when I ordered last year, **********s talked me into going with the more conservative offset to avoid rolling the fenders, and I regretted doing it. I will roll the fenders this time around so I can sit a little more flush.

Anyone know how far I can go with just rolled fenders?

The 19x8.5 ET15 is super aggressive on the car and is going to require more than a simple fender roll to get that to work properly. You will have to run a super stretched tire and may need to flair the fenders to get that to work properly. I would recommend that you go with the following setup if you're looking to get a more "flush" fitment.

19x8.5 ET35 (with a 5mm spacer - making it ET30) with a 235/35/19
19x9.5 ET22 with a 265/30/19 and a rear fender roll

Thanks a lot Alan, 30 and 22 sounds perfect to me. So rolling the fronts won't be necessary? Just the rears. I'm wondering if a 20 offset on the 9.5" rears would be pushing my luck.

Bump. What's the consensus, et20 is too aggressive? But a 9.5" et23 is safe with a 265 tire?

i have 18's but a 19 with 225 and 255 will be very close to what i am running but slightly taller, very slightly. the first pic is 18x8.5 et30 and 9.5 et 32 the second two are with 12.5mm spacers all around. i think as long as you run 225 and 255 you will be ok, but of course this is one of those things where no matter what people say youre not going to know until you try and its not like you can return wheels and tires, you will be stuck with them, thats why everyone recommends a safe application.

Thanks for the post Brock, pictures are very helpful too. So in the last two pics, am I understanding correctly that you're running et18 fronts and et20 rears? If so, that's crazy, but well done sir.

Are you on sport suspension?

and what type of fender work did you have to do to fit 18/20 offsets?

The 19x9.5 ET20 should work fine, it's just a matter of being able to find a spacer size to accommodate your goal. For example most spacers are only available in the 5mm, 10mm, 15mm, 20mm sizes and onwards. Finding that PERFECT number is going to be tough as most aftermarket wheel manufactures also do only make the 19x9.5 ET45, ET43, ET35, ET33, ET22 setups accordingly. You may end up having to purchase a wheel that is more conservative without a spacer so that you can achieve that goal!

you are correct, i am on eibach sportlines with no fender work and no rubbing what so ever. i would recommend getting an et around 30 and using spacers so you have options if they rub or you run into other problems and definitely 225 and 255 series tires.

Awesome man, thanks. Looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger on some 8.5 et35 fronts and space them 5mm, 9.5 et22 rears, probably go with 225/255 as well. Thanks for the feedback.

i have never seen my front wheels fully turned to check clearance, but it looks like there is more room to work up front. so to me it seems you are more likely to have issues in the back, so im thinking you may want to use spacers in the rear to be safe. if i used this setup before i had my suspension work done i would be more confident in helping you, but since there are differences in our cars i dont personally want to recommend an offset of 22 on the rears.

besides, if you go with that setup the front will look like the first photo and the rear will look like the last two. i imagine your front wheels will look sunken in. there is only a 2mm difference in the rear as my car with spacers and no difference in the front as my car without. i hope this is not confusing you, my wheels without spacers are 8.5" wide and offset of 30 and 9.5 offset of 32, with spacers it brings the rear to et20. so the front of your car will look like the first two photos and the rear will look like the last two.

also i forgot to mention, which is probably the most important thing, is when i got my suspension installed i took the car to a performance shop and told them to give me a performance orientated alignment. so i probably have some negative camber which could be the sole reason why this offset works for me. sorry that slipped my mind.

So what was your offset on the front wheels in the last two pictures? I was thinking that it was et18 after spacers. It looks spot on...and I've heard from other sources that et22 on a 9.5" will work, appreciate you letting me know though.

my front offset is 18, but i thought you were going with a 30 up front and a 22 in the back. i dont think that will look right i think you may want to get 15mm spacers if you are going to get a front offset of 35 to even it out.
