Miro/ALT M6 Rep...Garbage...Give me my $$

Good morning all,

So in the past few months, Ive had two sets of M6 reps. My first set was paint defective, and replaced with the current..well, no longer current set.

I have dented 3 of the wheels, and today, had a wheel removed that was cracked in three places and pending collapse upon any sort of decent bump.

I have been in touch with **********s and they have been nothing but helpful in this, but the only way I think this can be resolved is if Miro/ALT takes care of their product. I'm not one to complain, but being told the wheel was pending a collapse, scares me, especially when I get to my car after a 12 hour shift overnight, and see that my TPMS is going off b/c my tire pressure is 19psi under. Yes, the wheel was so broken, that it started to lose the seal with the tire.

Mind you, for those of you saying, "you drive crazy, these are reps, what did you expect"....I say, certainly, I know they are reps, and arent top notch forged wheels. But that being said, knowing this upon purchase, I have driven on them as such. I avoid potholes, I slow down for any bumps, I'm probably a hazard to other drivers because of my driving maneuvers to avoid these bumps (not really...but you get the exaggeration). Not even reps should crack in three places, and have 3 others dent on low to no impact.

Here are the pics of the final straw for me. I want my money back from Miro/ALT, and not a replacement set (a third)...

P.S...I'm still on my original tires....tells you something as well I think

P.P.S....Tara @ **********s is the best

Enjoy:

Bummer dude. How long have you had your rims before you started experiencing problems? Hopefully my set lasts.

Since the end of february...wish you the best of luck, I dont think that these wheels typically break like this, so I just hope its me as an isolated case and they take care of it.

that's crazy. There's a lot of people rocking those wheels too. I hope no one gets hurt if those wheels brake like that. At least you noticed on time. Good luck finding a new set of wheels that are safer.

Wow! really makes me think twice about saving money on reps. That's crazy, i didn't know that could happen to wheels.

If you hit a big enough pothole or even a small one at high speeds any wheel could crack. Those Miro reps are JWL as well as VIA certified so they have passed/met the requirements to them be used on the road.

Reps or not they still shouldn't crack like that unless you're on REALLY bad roads all the time.

I've got the idea in my head that since the M6 wheel design has a lot of space between the spokes, if it's more prone to damage than say, the CSL wheel design. Although the inner edge of the barrel is just as susceptible to damage regardless of the face design.

Kenny, is these certified or are they built to the specifications required for certification? Big difference there... Is there paperwork that can be posted to show the actual cert.?

As far as we know they are certified.
To be quite frank, and I think other vendors will chime in here, but this is the first we've seen of such case. There are people in NY and NJ running Miro wheels with absolutely no problems whatsoever (they have attested to this in another thread).

I just got a slight bend in mine after hitting a massive pot hole in Fairfield, CA on I80 going about 70 mph. The car in front of me hit it so hard he lost control for a second. I hit it and my wife thought we hit something head on. It made a loud bang and sounded like something broke. I pulled over and there was just a very slight bend in the front left rim. There are no cracks, the wheel is still true and not loosing any air. I can't even feel anything through the steering wheel. Considering the hit the wheel took, I say these are very strong wheels. It hit so hard the M sticker popped off. Nick sent me a new one FOC. I am filing a claim with Caltrans as it was some messed up re-alignment they are doing through there. I wish I took a picture - it's a 3 lane highway with six sets of stripes.

I hit that same pothole in Fairfield as well last week and I was on stock rims. My rims survived but its not a good feeling. Its pretty harsh, like a big drop out of now where. Let me know what Caltrans tells you because I might file and do the same. Ironically I just put in an order for the M6 reps in 18"s.

I've filed with CalTrans before with favorable results. It all depends on the supervisor who is in charge of that area. He/She makes the final call on whether or not your claim gets approved. It'll only take 6-12 months. You'll need either a receipt, or 2 price quotes, for repair or replacement of the damaged items.

Thanks Chowbow and TJlayzer. I'll get the quotes no problem. I still can't believe how bad that bump is. For anyone going through Fairfield, CA, stay out of the left lane. I am amazed they don't have any signage saying "bump". I live up in Truckee and there is tons of construction on I80 up there. Anywhere there is a "transition" there is a warning sign that says "bump ahead". At all those locations, the bump is non-existant compared to the mess in Fairfield. It literally felt like we hit something. The shocks appear to be fine though as well as the alignment. I am just really amazed that I only got a bend on the outer lip and cannot feel it throught the steering wheel.

Let me clarify this point. The factory that produces the wheels for ALT/Miro is JWL and VIA certified which means that every wheel that goes through their production facility will carry the same certifications. They will be stamped on the wheel if they are indeed certified and is a good test of the wheel's strength, durability and quality.

Let me know if I can help, James wasn't available today to help so he'll probably get back to you sometime this weekend or early Monday.

As to the issue at hand, while Miro's wheels are upheld to the JWL/VIA standard as a company there is level of accountability that they have. Vudoo4u2 as has stated has our full support to address the problem at hand.

NOT to be a dick, but you had to hit something substantial to dent 3 wheels and crack one.

Ive had mine for 4 months on the worst roads in the USA (NJ and manhattan and brooklyn) and I havent even bent one wheel.

Shocking, Miro was being marketed as the "quality" replica brand, this is not what I expected. I guess you get what you pay for, if you want to be sure this doesn't happen buy wheels that are used in motorsport. (BBS, Fikse, OZ,...) I've yet to see someone complain about those.
