Avoid Vaughn Motorwerks in Zionsville, Indiana for poor service and damaging my ride

I took my car into Vaughn Motorwerks in Zionsville, Indiana (Northwest side of Indianapolis) for some maintenance and it started to snow shortly after they were finished. So I drove my car home and washed it in the garage. A few days later, I opened the garage door and saw a dent inside out on my hood. I called them up and they denied it and told me to bring my car in five days later so the owner could take a look at it. I was already upset and told them I could bring my car in that day but they said No since the owner was too busy! So I bring my car in five days later and they finally admit to the dent on my hood and took it in to a PDR shop while I waited. They came back and gave me a low end Kia rental so I could return to work.

This whole ordeal cost me a lot of frustration, aggravation and 1/2 a day of PTO for missed work. I had to take time out of my day to take my car into their shop (30 minutes each way), wait for them to access the damage, wait more to get a rental car, and drive the rental back to work. Then I had to go back again to pick up my car and finally return home. I asked them what they would do for me about the lost time they cost me and frustration. They said nothing because they paid for the Kia rental and what tiny bit of gas I used in it. I can't recommend this shop for damaging a customer's car and not be forthcoming about it to begin with. They clearly don't respect my time and was unwilling to do anything to make up for it. Avoid Vaughn Motorwerks for poor service!

I also Avoid Reggie's Motorworks and Euro Motorworks around Indianapolis for their poor service, lack of tools and inability to get the job done.

None of the above mentioned shops should be allowed to work on BMW.

Yet another reason why there are just crap shops around Indianapolis. It's so difficult to find quality work around here I usually have to make a trip up to Chicago to get anything done right.

BTW, I highly recommended VS but they are closed

Try Hash Imports in Fishers. They've given me good service.

that sucks. had a similar situation when i got some small bits painted on mine, where they scratched up the clear coat on my roof... had to go back and forth a few times which was plenty annoying.
sucky thing was it was the place everyone recommended too. just was one of the rare mishaps i guess.

it couldn't have been that rare since they damaged your ride and mine plus screwed up another dude's pulley upgrade.

we need a list of shops to avoid!

wasnt actually this shop mentioned, one of the favorites of the chitown crowd, A&L ( first i spotted bubbles in the paint which they solved by wetsanding while i waited for an hour.. when i got home i saw the scratches from the buffer on the roof. and had to drive back yet again the next day.), but ya, hard to find a place that would treat your ride the way you would. quality checks would be nice.

Check out Import Specialist on 96th and Michigan Rd.

http://www.bimmershops.com/indiana/import-specialist

I have an appt next week for Koni+Eibach install, and 60K service. Spoke with Bob twice on the phone and the guy sounded very competent, and charges at least a third less than what Dreyer & Reinbold's stealership charges for labor.

Will report back on my experience, but looks like people with BMWs like them, and Bob does performance upgrades.

Just ran across this while strolling through the threads but I agree with the comment about Hash. Had to get a battery replaced and a couple other things and they were great. Didn't try to BS me on anything and the pries were good. A lot of BMW owners must go there because the lot was full of them when I went.

I think they go by book rates - they're just cheaper than the dealership. I saw this shop in the area too... has anyone had experience with them?

http://www.euromotorworks.com/

I'm also wanting to do coil-overs - would love to see your car when they're done.

Screw it, I will install the coilovers myself if I have to. I'm leaning towards Ohlins

**From my original post. Don't even waste your time calling Euro Motorworks. Their rates are even more egregious and they will Not install your own parts. You must buy everything from them.

That's a shame - they're close to me and I was excited when I drove by there. Fortunately, my dad has a lift - i just have to drive an hour to get there.

What are the labor rates of these places everyone is mentioning on here?

I just had some work done at Autobahn Service in Greenwood, off SR37. They did good work but charge $90 per hour. I might as well have used Dreyer for the service. Alignment was $130 also... as much as Dreyer.

Thanks in advance for posting the labor rates.

I have yet to find a reasonable shop around Indianapolis that doesn't try to screw you by padding their hours or with piss poor service.

Does anyone know any local BMW Master techs that do work on the side?

Check out Ress Motor Works in the 700 block of North Capital downtown Indy. They have worked on my 1999 528iT for years. I have found them to do quality work. Nothing but BMW spoken there.

I will say I am surprised by the comments about Vaughn. I haven't gone there in a few years as I live in Fishers and work downtown so they are out of the way. Same for Reggie's - I was in their Noblesville shop last month and thought it looked nice and neat and well equipped.

I think Hash is 90 as well, but they're definitely cheaper than the dealership... get a quote from both and see.

Your first and Only post on this forum is questioning me?? Crap shops are a dime a dozen in Indy. I must say, if I drove a beater, I wouldn't care who worked on it either.

If you want real quality work done at a fraction of the price, you have to take a trip to Chicago.

As I originally stated, Reggie's is crap. I can name more things they can Not do than they can. If you need an oil change or battery replacement, they may be able to pull it off.

Same goes for Vaughn, nothing but shit! Yes, they fired the idiot who damaged my ride but I could care less since they lost a customer for life! I will never get back my lost time and frustration! For me, time is money!
