That is the preferred way to do it.

What you put in will depend on which of the three systems offered is in your car and if its a coupe or 4 door . It has nothing to do with the Head Unit name. Read the links to find out what you have. The base system requires processor or frequency flattening device The middle system called Hi Fi is easiest to modify The L7 called the HK or Top Hi Fi is more difficult to modify because of the fiberoptic connection between the amp and head unit and the number of channels (9). It will be big for the first two systems and better than the Top Hi Fi (l7) but it won't be cheap because almost none of the normal Hi Fi shop stuff fits . The stuff that does fit is really good but not cheap. Last edited by ctuna; 08-07-2012 at 10:16 PM.. |

Hello from Finland!
This is my first post to the forum so try to bear with me... I would like to update my E90 base stereo, but after 7h of reading this forum it appears it's a bit more difficult than i predicted. For the record, i have Idrive + professional nav, if that changes anything. The parts that i would like to add are: (suggestions) - amplifier for front speakers + "subs" under seats (Blaupunkt THA-475) - 2-way front speakers (DLS R4) + I'm also going to need the adapters mentioned here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=amp+upgrade Questions: - Will this work? For example are the subs' imbedances suitable for the amplifier when connected this way? I would like to drive the rear speakers with to HU's amp. (this isn't necessary) - What about the speaker cables? Do I need to draw new cables from the amplifier or can i somehow use the existing ones? - What else do i need to consider? I'm aware of the HU EQ problem, which isn't my biggest concern at the moment. Any ideas / suggestions? |

Ignoring the eq on the head unit is a big mistake. Driving aftermarket speaker with the head unit is a big mistake they barely have enough power for the speakers that are in there now. Leaving the rears on the head unit should be OK That's a 4 year old post you are looking at there are better solutions now but there not cheap. Last edited by ctuna; 09-08-2012 at 12:27 PM.. |

Yeah, i've read that page. The only problem is, that many of those systems cost too much. I'am not looking for the best solutions, just an <1000€ update for the previous system.
I haven't found any information about wiring-diagrams of the oem speakers and that's why i'm a bit loss connection wise. I can't also pm anybody, cos I'm a newbie here. Anyways, our roads here are so rough, that there isn't any point searching for the best sound, it's always ruined by tire noise when driving. Just looking for that one fellow, who could point out exatly what i need (we must remember that marks may vary a bit here in Europe), i could figure out the rest myself. |

The front speakers are all in parallel

I have seen pictures of some of the installs of the split in the kick panels. There is an Alpine kit offered by BMW that adds and Alpine amp and upgrades the fronts and the underseats I think. |
