it was more likely how you got rid of the snow/ice when you washed that gave you swirls

Wow, I'm glad we don't get swow in Minnesota, it sounds horrible.

Ice is no joke, it left some deep scratches in my cousins GS that I had to wetsand out. Snow/ice sucks, you can't remove it without marring the paint, but waiting for it to melt off ends up swirling it up as well. My car needs a good detail come spring time.

letting it melt off causes swirl marks ? I live in miami, and have never seen "snow". I'm 35 years old too. I hate cold weather, but want to see snow or "SWOW" eventually. but how can melted snow leave swirls ??? Im clueless about snow/salt !!

Because as it melts the ice moves around the paint before flying off, even if youre not driving it will usually slide a bit on the paint before coming off.

WTF ??? i would hate that shit, that like having a cat with "claws" sliding down your hood.

what if you get a hose and rinse it down(kinda dumb i guess), will it freeze again. or can you rinse it down SAY AM or PM right before it melts ?

Well if there is ice on the car that means the hose will be frozen as well lol. If you use warm water it freezes faster than cold water. Only solution is keeping the car in the garage, but that's not possible during the day.
