When my factory warranty runs out, will I have an option to buy the extended warranty

Pretty much the title says it all. Its a used non-CPO 2008 328i. When the warranty runs out or is close to running out, will BMW offer me the opportunity to buy the extended warranty?

I don't know if I would, but I am a little afraid of the dreaded ticking lifter issue surfacing among other things right after the warranty runs out.

You can buy an extended BMW warranty at any time BEFORE the factory warranty expires.

It is up to you to buy the warranty. Don't wait for it to be "offered" to you.

IMO it's safe to own a 328 out of warranty.

Agree, 28 doesnt really need the coverage unless you want the service plan also. My 335i ran out 2 months ago and I RAN down to extend it for another 36/36.

If you are going to extend the warranty make sure you do it before it expires. Once expired you CAN NOT get the factory BMW warranty. You can get a 3rd party that the dealerships works with.

What's a 36/36? Doesn't the BMW warranty usually go 6/70, 6/100, 7/70, 7/100? You got a 7/86?
