Nike Shox are garbage for running.

I'd look into Vibram FiveFingers or if that is too hardcore for you, then Nike Free Runs.

I run and workout in NB MT101's. If you're set on Nike, you're better off running in the Frees than the Shox.

Agree with what's already been said. I personally run on a pair of Nike Free 3.0 and can't see myself using anything else.

Shox are the absolute opposite of what you want in a running shoe. They are heavy and encourage you to impact on your heel which is bad form.

Go to a real running store (not Dicks or Sports Authority) and get properly sized. They will look at your gait to determine your pronation and make recommendations from there. A simple, minimal, no gimmick running shoe can provide you with the support you need while being lightweight and encourage good form.

eople love their Vibrams but be advised that all their "advantages" are really only for those with perfect arch shape as it is. If you need arch support, they aren't going to provide it. It's isn't an issue of being "hardcore" (ask any runner...any real runner...) rather getting the shoe that fits you best and will encourage proper form in order to prevent injury.

Nike Shox are crap, and any 'real' runner will laugh and/or cringe when they see you wearing them. It depends on how much you are running, but in general, stay away from the gimmicky shoes and get into a shoe that is really built for runners, like Asics or Brooks. They each have many different types of shoes for different types of runners, so you'll probably need someone at a running shoe store to help you out.

shox are too heavy for my taste. I prefer light ones.

Just got the Nike Free Run 2. Great for speed, probably not too good for 10+ miles runs.

I have a retarded high arch, so I need support in every other shoe, but my vibrams force me to run on the ball of my foot so arch support isn't an issue.

I'm very happy with my airmax 2010s for running. They absorb everything yet still give you plenty of control. I wouldn't get anything else if running on hard surfaces.

My feet are the exact opposite...very flat so arch support is crucial. I was taught to run on the ball of my foot so that hasn't really been an issue for me. The better your arches, the better Vibrams will work for you...unfortunately many people have flatter than ideal arches. The idea is to get a shoe that works with your foot, and in reality the only way to accomplish this is to have someone who knows what they're doing analyze your gait and see what you're most comfortable in

Shox are SOOOOOOO gimmicky. Why would you want little pillars putting point loads on the footbed and the tread? You'd want that empty space filled in with foam to distribute the load and provide stability. Just use a lower density elastomer or foam and put it everywhere and you have a much better design...you know....like every other running shoe out there.

I personally recommend Brooks or Pearl Izumi.

Anybody who is serious about running (runs more than a measly 5 miles) knows that these are a joke and take some serious time to adjust to.

Dont waste your time, go to a shoe store, have them analyze your feet and get in the right shoe..

Dont worry about the brand..what fits you is far more important

nike shox are horrible running shoes. only good use for them is for weight lifting. Get into a pair of vomeros or lunarglide if you like nike.

go to a real running store, like red coyote (dunno if ya'll will have one or not), and try a pair of Newtons, they're stupid expensive (160ish) but force you to run on the ball of your feet and provide unbelievable arch support
